NAM'DET. Tiie information received that Jacob Kneisley met his death by accident was I sadly received here, as he had a host of friends here. We all regret his loss. Cutting ice is the order of the day and our ice men who thought they would not get any got left this time, for it was too cold for them to cut last Monday. 'The cold was intense here for a few days. Thermometer on the 21th 1I de grees below zero: on the 2oth 8 a. in. 25 ■ degrees below zero. Peter Trenz was awakened by the : smell of smoke last Sunday night and on : investigation found that the ceiling was on tire close to the chimney. A few buckets of water put it out before it gain ed much headway. Mrs. Dr. Mitchell, after a few davs < f illness, was well enough to teach hclkkil again on Monday. R. Porter, the J’hri e 1 R R. agent it i this place, is still setting the cigars up j for that young student that came to , ! stay with them.
