Charlie Miller, who was so badly hurt by the kick of a horse last w eek, is getting some better. There is hope of his life now. Some horse traders who spent a few days just south of town last week and who boarded at Andrew Korp's, skipped 1 out and without paying their board bill. , in his brick block. It is to be finished now’. * A lawn party was given at the home of Miss Nellie Broadhurst on Tuesday night, July 9, in honor of Mr. Henry Sluss, of South Bond. A dainty lunch of ice cream and cake was served. 1 Messrs. John, Sum, and Henry Sluss, of South Bend, w ho visited their parents a few days last week, returned to South , Bend Saturday. John Forsyth, who had the contract to build Benny Snyder's barn, met with a bud accident one day last week. He was putting on a slate roof, w hen by some means he slipped about 12 feet, and then fell about 20 feet onto the ground, and broke his thigh bone. Dr. Hamilton was called, who set the bone, and the patient is doing as well as could be expected. A meeting of some of our citizens was held last Menday evening to make some preparations for the second annual Soldier's Reunion which is to be held at LaPaz on Thursday, Sept. 3. Another meeting is to be hold next Saturday night, when we hope to see a large num ber of citizens in attendance. "In the multitude of counselors there is wisdom.” We hope that all persons interested within a radius of six miles w ill be at the meeting in the old Coquillard store room next Saturday evening. A gentleman by the name of Frank Swickard, traveling immigration agent, M. H. P. A S. Ste. M. R. W. will deliver a free lecture this evening in theCoquillard store room, on North Dak. His lec tures are said to be quite interesting. He has a phonograph, magic lantern and other things to amuse his audience, especially the children. He is anxious to see many children present. John Ringle, of Bremen, and Lynn Reynolds are shipping a double deck of hogs and sheep to day. Vinedresser. island Corn is beginning to wilt. Oats are ladrig harvested this week. Marsh haymaking has begun. It will be a fair crop. Rob Dare and H. M. Smith drove over i to LaPorte last Tuesday. Lambert McCombs and daughters, of Teegarden. visited on the Island last Sunday with his sister, Mrs. John Heath Rain is badly needed at this writing Wednesday.
