Liut Sunday there was a party coin posed mostly of Walkerton people at the lake who took their dinner there and a most enjoyable time was had. They had ice cream and cake. Mrs. Bassett is a sister to Mrs. Vinson. Mr. Vinson was quite ill during the latter part of last week. His shop was closed, ho not being able to work. Henry Sluss, of South Bend, camo to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac, Sluss, on the Ith. He remained a few i days.
Byron Shirk, of Souuh Bend, catue to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. l.j Shirk, on Thursday of last week. He . remained over Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fligor, and the । latter’s mother, of Nappanee, visited with W. F. Fuller and wife last Sunday. Dr. C. F. Holtzondorff and his best girl drove over to Bremen last Saturday to celebrate the 4th. The 4th was a more quiet day than usual at Lapaz. We had no fireworks this year. On Friday night the boys, fired all night, and made so mu *h noise i that people could not sleep. Miles Blake’s horse got so frightened in the stable that he broke loose, burst open • j the stable door, and left town. Walter Atwood will have charge of the IL J. Heinz Co.’s plant at this place this season, and has engaged Henry Allen for his assistant. Orla Holderman spent Tuesday ami Wednesday in South Bend looking after business interests. Sid Uncapher left for Chicago Tues day morning where he will take in the convention. Johnson is out of the saloon business and is paying his attention to the real estate business, buying and selling real estate of all kinds. The farmers are hauling their w heat here for 111 cents per bushel.
