South Bond Thursday of last week. John Faulkner, of near North Liberty, moved into this vicinity last week. Mrs. J. F. Pollley left hero Thursday of last week for Goshen where she will visit friends and relatives a few weeks. Miss Laura Shopp, of Garrett, was the 1 guest of Gertrude Wiley the forepart of last week. We are sorry to ’ lose Willard for he is a good citizen. On Thursday of last week a man called 1 at Mrs. Rachael Thompson's and wanted to buy one dozen of eggs. After he got them he sat down and cut a hole in the end of them and sucked the full dozen. Miss Viola Baker is so she can be up and around again after an illness of over two weeks. Samuel Koontz, Jr., went to Knox on Saturday of last week on business. Mrs. Samuel Koontz, Jr., returned home on Saturday of last week for a few days’ visit. They are having a very interesting Sunday school at the Oregon M. E. church. Amos Atwood has had new siding put on his house and is giving it a coat of paint. It makes his farm look 100 per cent better. There are a few days over two weeks of school at the Koontz school house yet. J. P. Dipert has s«M his pony and bought a black colt. Jap lost on his pony but we think he made it up on the colt deal. Sani and Will Dipert are building a | barn for Daniel McCarty, one mile north of Donaldson. Starke county will soon be in the lead for wheat and corn. We have not seen any wheat in St. Joe or Marshall county that would beat Sam Koontz, Jr.'s, or C. M. Wright's. Mr. Wright lives on A. P. Atwood's farm. They have Organized an Epworth League at the Oregon M. E. church. The meeting is held every Sunday night. The names of the officers are as follows Wm, Sliders, president; vice presidents, E. D. Boyer, Stella D. Dipert, i Minnie Goppert and Alice Boyer: Mrs. Henry Martin, secretery: Olive Dipert, : treasurer. There are 55 members and i room for that many more. Visitors ir- ; vited. Marion Bellinger and wife, of Walkerton, were the guests of Henry Martin i last Sunday. The Misses Lulu Beard. Minnie Wolfe !and Lillie Davis were the guests of Samuel Dipert last Sunday. E. G. Lancaster and J. P. Dipert caught 13 black bass last Sunday and W. H. Dipert and L. Hill caught 17. J. P. D. and E. G. L. had about 15 ; pounds dressed while L. H. and W. 11. I), had about 9 pounds. Collins last Sunday. Mrs. Sanford Craft and daughter Ruby, of Chicago, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. C. Hale this week. Gust Anderson got his hand in one of the buckets of the elevator shafts at Fink’s elevator last Tuesday. He was ! drawn up the shaft to his shoulder beI fore he could be pulled out.
