Mr. and Mrs. Robert Beagles, of near Tyner, visited their daughter, Airs. James Casad, last Friday. C. R. Kohli organized a singing class at Jordan last Thursday night. Singing every Saturday night at, the Pleasant Grove chapel. L. G. Hostetler, teacher.
Samuel Eisemenger and Carol . Wall we were at LaPorte last Wednesday’ on business. Miss Gertie Wiley and Flora Pommert attended the teacher’s institute at Walkerton last Saturday. Mr. A. Garrett is improving slowly. L G. I. B. ISLAND Rill Beatty is on the sick list. Sam Dillon and son Ed are on the sick list this week. Will Pitman ami wife, of LaPorte, were on the Island last Sunday. Mrs. Rebecca Snell returned home from South Bend Friday morning of last week where she had been visiting for several weeks past. Philip Marsh and lady, of North Libery, were the guests of John Heath and wife last Sunday. The bell on the Dare school house is out of order which should be repaired so it could be rung in the mornings. Who will attend to it. Willard Place had a buzzing bee last Monday and Tuesday. Gould and McDaniel were the principal actors. । Charley Cunningham gave a dance ! at his house Friday night of last week. I A nice time is reported Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Garver returned i home last Monday. Mr. Garver took with him over forty rabbits. It wasn’t a very good time for rabbits either. A wood chopping bee was held last Tuesday to get wood for the Island church. There was a good turn out. Rev. George Cook, of Kearney, Neb., preached to a fair sized audience last Sunday at the Island church. Everybody was well pleased with his sermon. A collection of over five dollars was taken up for the Nebraska sufferers. There was a general hand shaking after services, as everybody was glad to ( meet their old fiieud again. Mr. Cook j favored tho audience with two beautiful songs which were highly appreciated by all. Come again, George, you will be welcomed at any time. Scribbler. HAMLET. The roads are good and hay is com ■ ing in in large quantifies. Meeting is still going on. Buck I Stanley, the temperence evangelist, is ; here helping in the work. An epidemic is visiting this locality in the way of a throat trouble. It is । being pronounced membranous croup ' but seems to be somewhat contagions. Ada Muselman, daughter of Mr. and ; Mrs. Frank Muselman, died Sunday I morning. She was their only child. Mr. Hentz’s little boy Otto is not. ! expected to live; also Mr. Chile’s little ; fellow is very sick, both having this I same throat t rouble. Two of Mr. Albersou’s children are I quite ill. ; A good physician is surely needed in | this place. Mrs. Danielson and son Hubert, Bid j Smith, Mrs. Taylor, Baz Pettycord, Mrs. Smith, Willard Smith and Mrs. | Firestine are al! on the sick list. Julius Goppert has purchased the | property belonging formerly to Mr. Hagle and lias moved into his new home. Mr. Hagle has moved with his family to Walkerton, where he will work for Mr. Baugher. TYNER CITY. Charley Rowell is running his saw mill every day. He has added a corn grinder to his mill. A. D. Johnson & J. E. Johnson h nV e filled their ice houses this week with 9 inch ice. Oren Chart and Joseph Burnsides are packing ice for A. D. Johnson, and Bill McKesson, and J. R. Snyder me ’ packing ice for J. E. Johnson. J. C. Case, of Niles, Mich., made a short call on his sister, Mrs. J. Sontherlain, Tuesday evening. B. F. Langen bang h, of Plymouth, is looking up a location in Tyijer. Our blacksmiths are busy shoeing horses everyday. Al Harmon is cutting ice on Koontz’s lake. There will be a band organized here in the spring. If there is any one that has an item of interest, deaths, sickness or accidents they may leave them at J. E Johnson’s store. Miss Chloe Lane will start a millinery store here soon. Monroe Bros, are invoicing their stock of goods so they can tell how much they are worth. Wesley Rupel, of near Walkerton, was in town this week. Ot Townsund, of Walkerton, made a business trip to Tyner Monday. 'Tad Bougies wits up to Tyner Monday and Tuesday on a visit among his old friends. Jesse Bennett is setting corn at 22c. H. S. Jarrell and Myron Chase are selling their wheat to J. E. Johnson. There was a large turn out to the teachers institute here last Saturday. Will give particulars next week.
