Charley Milner ami Charley Stilt took potatoes to LaPorte on Monday * last week . Uj^l ami Chauncy Wright went to Son 'Wednesday of last week on business. Calvin Knott, who has work in Michigan, returned last week. Miss Minnie Lancaster and Miss Ola Baker were the guests of Jacob Paul last Sunday. Jesse Lancaster and brother have the contract to finish Bev. B. 11. Beall’s residence in Walkerton. The Lancaster estate has not been settled satisfactorily. E. G. Lancaster will enter a suit intestate. Retsacnal. GROVERTOWN. Prof. Barnum, of Knox, entertained r fair house with a slieght of hand per formance last Monday evening. Our Sabbath school is going along nicely, and much interest is manifested j by the majority of our people. There ! are a few, however, who profess to be interested in church and Sunday school work whose zeal and actual labor in the cause do not tally up at all with their pretensions; we will say kindly, that there is room for all; come all that -can and do what yon can. Andy Uncapher amt Fred Peterson were in Chicago last week attending to business matters. Sid Uncapher in company with Will Benedick, of Ft. Wayne, and Walt Reynolds, of Plymouth, spent last week at the Kankakee river hunting and fishing. They report fair success and a roaring good time. Madam Rumor has it that there will be a couple of weddings in town j before the dark of the moon. John Davis and son Chas., of Maxin kuckee, visited friends in this place j from Saturday till Monday. Were glad to note that the operation per formed on John by removing his eye for cancer was a success, and he now feels like a new man. The U B. Sunday school at this

Thumm and family, of South Berni, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Thumm. Tuesday. F. E. Lambert, of South Bend, was in town Tuesday. The town board are putting down some crosswalks. Mrs. W. S. Whitt,ecar, who has typhoid malarial fever, is better Mrs. D. Hoffman is visiting relatives at South Bend. Mrs. Jacob Furver and daughterLizzie have returned to Ohio. Wesley, Ollie and Lizzie Thornton, of Elkhart, spent Sunday with relatives in this vicinity. M. H. Chapman has moved his family t<» Michigan. V. S Bulla and son Loree, and J. W. Briggs left for Nebraska last Monday to visit relatives. Ed Winslow is doing the painting on the Richardson house. Thomas Snyder who, with his family, went to Arkansas a short time ago, is >on his way back disgusted with the country. The teachers of this township hold their institute of evenings every two i weeks—two evenings for one day. Mr. Mooney, of Lincoln, 111., is visit- | ing with Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Johnson. John Richardson had his best girl here last week a day or two. Ida Steward, of Plymouth, visited with friends in and around this place last week. The dance at Isaac Cripe’s last Saturday night ended with three or four tights.
