—————e T—- > | A Confiding Widow and Her Money are l 3 Soon Parted. J A little sensation, in which Charles Yocum is the chief factor and prime » | mover, has been a subject for much 1| talk and indignant feeling among the people here this week. Charles Yocum | hails from Findley, Olio, and he has ! | been working at farming in these parts 1| for the past season. He is a deadbeat to a fiuish and his oily tongne won him 1 | the confidence of the widow Bishop, 8 | who resides about three miles west of this place. Mrs. Bishop is a widow 8 | with two children—a danghterand son, ¥ | the former being about 19 aund the latter about 16 years of age. Mrs. Bishop recently sold her farm of 40 acres to Seth Martin, and after lignidating her indebtedness had in the ® | neighborhood of SSOO in caslh, She B | committed this to Yoenm's keeping, 1| and the latter disappenred on Monday. Heo drove from here to South Bend and Y | from there, it is supposed, he went to * | Findley. Marshal Fry went to Sonth Bend and LaPorte on 'T'nes@y iv - | search of the fellow, but the li‘ in - | some way learned the situation ©of af- * | fairs and returned to this place 'l'nesday evening, thinking thus to avoid | the lnw. Fry returned last Tnesday evening and not knowing of Yoeum's " | presence here left early the following - | morning for Findley. In the meantime Yoenm met the widow in town and gave her a little “‘game of talk” and got her to thinking things were | all right. He remarked that he had - | put the money where it would be for her good., Yoeum got ont of town again Thursday morning. The widow | Bishop did not seem inclived to push | the case and he may be able to escape the responsibilities of his raseality The sum that Yoenm got away with represents all that the widow had in | the world and is the accnmulation of | years of hard work and poverty, It is ‘| an outrage and the only proper place | for such a rascal as Yoenm isx behind | the bars. e | 3 A Monster Marsh Plowing Outfit.
