A very successful fruit grower of Northern Michigan was recently visiting in this county and told ms mem s no wonder they do not raise fruit here. Ue said if he made no greater effort to raise fruit than our farmers I do he would do no better than the), but he works with his trees carefully and intelligently. He sprays them during the spraying season, and removes the moth nests whenever they 11 are formed. By doing these things he 1 1 has no difficulty in raising perfect fruit and finds it profitable to do so,
and he says the farmers here can do the sane if they will make the effort. When apples sell in the markets for more than oranges it looks as though it might pay to spray the trees and raise apples. —La Forte Argus. Will Cast,a Huntington undertaker, tells of a rather strange experience he had while in the undertaking business here a few years ago. Two young ladies came in the store one day in a very merry mood and went saunteiing about over the store. One young lady
st >pped suddenly before an open coffin and surprised all present at uttering a ! pathetic cry. She exclaimed, “Oh my! [ wonder whether I have been looking into my own coffin.” A week after that time Mr. Cast was called to a certain house to prepare the body of a young lady for burial. The measure of the young lady had been sent to the store and he found that this very coffin was the only one of the
