WALKERTON. INDIANA. JULY 22, 1898 MM iB, ESKiUSN. Born, to Mr. and Mrs. James Gorseline, Saturday morning, July 15, a boy. An eight-year old mare belonging to John Leßoy died last Wednesday morning. Nobody need suffer from languor nne melancholy if they take Simmons layer Regulator. A new stock of parlor suits just received and at the very lowest prices, at E. J. Vincent’s. Among the improvements that are being made to the postolliee is the building of a small addition on the north side. D<AVitt's Witch Hazel Salve cures piles. DeWitt’s Witch Hazel Salve cures burns. De Witt’s Witch Hazel Salve cures sores. De Witt’s Witch Hazel Salvo cures ulcers. Bellinger and Williams. A display of the aurora borealis was visible in the northern sky last Satur- ' day evening. The shafts of light! moved from east to west like an army of giants, and the peculiar display continued for nearly an hour. Bills are out announcing a wrestling match attd other athletic amusements in Bender’s opera house Saturday eve ! ning, July 29. Walter S. Osler and Robert L. Leonard will wrestle for a purse of S3OO and the championship of । Pennsylvania. The new postal money orders which : have been ordered by the government, will soon be issued. tn the system Sheets will be issued calling for amounts from one cent to §3 which can be torn off to suit purchaser. The postmaster will have no writing to do on it, the sender simply endorses it the i same as a check or draft. Oue cent j will pay charges in any amount to §3 instead of live cents as at present. Don’t expect an advertisement, says । Printer's Ink, to boar fruit in one night. You can't eat enough in a week to last you a year and you can't advertise on that plan either. People w^o advertise once in three months forget that most folks cannot remember anything longer than seven days. If you can arouse curiosity by an ad vertisement you have gained a great point. The fair sex do not hold all the curiosity in the world. Quitting advertising when times are dull is like tearing out a dam when the water is low. A citizen of Walkerton remarked i the other day that he had recently traveled through several counties in this state and had seen quite a number of badly kept cemeteries, but had ; failed to notice one that presented such a neglected appearance as the Walkerton cemetery. It is undoubtedly true, that it would be difficult to find a worse looking cemetery than the one in this , place. Many of the lots are kept up J in good shape by the care of friends of ' the deceased, but the general appear- * ance of the place is anything but re- | spectable. ’Weeds and rubbish till the j pathways in wild profusion and there j are many neglected graves upon which the grass has not once been cut this summer. The cemetery needs a. gener-j al cleaning up, and this should be no ; longer neglected.
