In a marriage notice in last w'eek’s Independent the names of the parties were incorrect, we having been misinformed. Their correct names were Spencer Thomas and Mrs. Ella Coffin. The meaning of the word advertise —“to make known”—explains its importance. Make known what you have to sell, what you wish to buy. The benefits are so far reaching that you cannot tell where they will end. Like a ripple caused by a stone, they extend beyond the sight.—South Bend Times. The following is from Prof. Foster’s forecast for November: “The fourth storm wave of November will reach the Pacific cost about the 15th, cross the western mountains by the close of the 17th, the great central valleys from 17th to 19th, and the eastern states about the 20th. This will be an average disturbance in its entire route across the continent. The cool wave will cross the western mountains about the 18th, the great central valleys about the 20th, and the eastern states about the 22d. A low temperature may be expected from this cool wave.” A newspaper man who knows how it is says that “occasionally, in spite of care and caution, an incorrect item will ' appear in the papers. Reporters are | not infallible. Their intentions are good, but they will make mistakes. When one does occur, and you feel aggrieved, do not stand on the street corner and bloviate as to what you are going to do, but g” directly to the office, state wherein the paragraph or article is untrue or does you an injustice, and it will be corrected. Newspaper publishers desire accuracy, and unless they do use care, they are the ones who suffer, for nobody wants to read a paper upon whose statement he can not depend. Errors will creep in, but if you go directly to the office, you will find in every instance the publishers willing to correct it—-not because of | fear of personal injury or law suits, | but because they believe it is right.” !
