A building twice the size of the present• one would be none too large for Walkerton. Will Troub, a 14-year old boy, of German township, this county, was drowned the other day in the St. Joseph river. A strange feature of the ! sad affair was that the boy’s mother j dreamed the night before that he would ' meet death by drowning. Tire U. B. church is undergoing a system of repairs. The partition that divides the entry from the audience room is being taken away and will all be thrown into one room, and a new belfry about twelve feet square will be built to replace the old one. Sam Cowan and Jim Cook have the work in charge. On August 19th to 22d the Baltimore & Ohio railroad will sell roundtrip tickets to Kansas City at a very low rate, on account of the Biennial Eencampment Knights of Pythias, to be held on August 23d, 1892. Take the third, second and first letters fur the first word; the sixth, fourth and fifth letters for the second, and we have something that is not enough for any. Nappanee Advance: Gov. Wm. McKinley's grandfather and grandmother lived and died at South Bend. The following epitaph is on their tombstone : “James McKinley died Aug. 20, 1817, aged 63 years, 11 months and 1 day. Mary, wife of James McKinley, died Aug. 20, 1847, aged 58 years, 9 months and 5 days. They died on the ! 13d anniversary of their marriage, and lived and died in the Christian faith, and left a large family to mourn their loss. OR. A reunion of the 87th Regiment of Indiana Volunteers was held at Rochester Thursday and Friday. The 87tb was organized at South Bend Aug. 28, 1862, and went to the front with Kline G. Shryock, of Rochester, as colonel. Some of the excursionists who went from this place to Cedar Beach last Sunday claim that that resort, with all of its great reputation, will not compare with our own Koontz's lake for beauty of scenery and romantic surroundings. An exchange says that “a South Bend woman, insane from the effects of morphine, raced up Main street the other day in her night shirt. The street was crowded with people at the time and excitement ran high but not any higher than the garment.” Col. J. S. Dodge, republican candidate for congress, addressed a meeting at North Liberty Wednesday evening. The initial steps were also taken at the time towards organizing a republican club there.
