The famous Blue Beach case, appealed from this county to the Supreme court, and designed to test the right of a school board to order a child suspended from school because not vaccinated, has been set down for oral argument before that body on the 14th of January. Frank. D. Blue, who appealed from the decision of the lower court, does not believe in the theory of vaccinnation, and maintains that the school board cannot bar him from the privileges of the schools because he will not have his children vaccinated.
Misfortunes seem to pursue Rev. John Mason Duncan, formerly president of Coates college. The same rumor has it that President Duncan will take charge of a western dollege.

The south-bound early morning passenger train on the C. & E. I., due here from Chicago shortly after five o'clock. Thursday morning ran into a north-bound coal train at Lyford station, two miles this side of Clinton, and piled cars and engines up into the most disastrous wreck the road has had in many years. John B. Raubsch and George Foster, engineers on the two trains, and George Brewer and F. F. Deeter, firemen, all residents of Danville, were killed, and five others were slightly injured. The accident was the result of the carelessness of the engineer on the coal train, a new man, who paid with his life the penalty of his carelessness. He started to run from Lyford to Clinton on the time of the passenger train, forgetting that there was such a train on the road. Foster was not instantly killed in the wreck, but lived for several hours, and his mental sufferings at the realization that his carelessness had caused the death of three of his fellow employes were terrible to witness.
