On Tuesday evening Mrs. Ernest Nattkemper entertained the Young Ladies Society of the German Methodist church, at her home on Wilson street. Later the young ladies were surprised by their gentlemen friends in honor of Miss Lucy Roekert, of Booneville, Ind., who is visiting her sister, Mrs. Natt kemper. Refreshments were served, and the party speut the evening in a very pleasant manner.
Last night Prof. Oskar Duenweg ten derod a reception to his evening classes and their friends in Bindley hall. One hundred invitations were sent out, and about fifty couples were in attendance. There were fourteen numbers on the programme. The music was furnished by the Ringgold orchestra in its usual excellent style, and all present enjoyed the dancing until the end of the programme, between twelve and one o'clock.
On Thursday eveningAmos Wiseman and Miss DoraSehmitt were married at tho German Reformed church, Rev. Schwedos, the pastor, officiating, aud Misses Lotta Bchmitt and Ollie Wiseman acted as bridesmaids, while Messrs. George Broad hurst and George Klatte discharged the duties of groomsmen. After the ceremony a reception was given the young couple at the home of the brldo's parentH on north Twelfth afreet. Many handsome presents wore sent in, atul their numerous friends wish the bride and groom a happy and successful life.
Leo. F. Berhoide aud Miss Catharine Smith were married onWednesday even-* lug at tho home of the bride's mother on south Fourth street, Rev. Father McEvoy officiating. In addition to the family only a few of the most intimate friendn wore present. Tho brideemaids •were Miss Rosa Tincher, of Amo, and Miss Alice Alexander, of this city, while Harry Loo and James Caldwell wore groomsmen. Many elegant presents were received, and after the eeremony a reception was held. Thursday morning the young couple left for Richmoud, Ind., near which Mr. Berheide has a stock farm oi) which they will make their home.
The ladles and officers of tho Central Presbyterian church gave a reception in tho basement and parlors last Monday evening from 8 till 10, in order that membors of the church and congregagation and others might have an opportunity of becoming acquainted with their pastor, Rev. R. V. Hunter, and wife. No invitations were issued, but at least five hundred persons attended, including the pastors and many of the members of other churches. The rooms wore beautifully decorated with cut flowers, potted plants and palms. Light refreshments wore served In the primary class rpom, and all present had a very pleasant time.
On Tuesday evening Miss Mamie Von Bute was given a surpriso party by a number of friends, at her home, 572 south Thirteenth street, tho occasion being her eighteenth birthday. Games aud dancing were indulged in for a time, when elegant refreshments wore served, after which uaneing was reftusued and continued till a late hour. Those present were: Misses May me Wegrich, Diswie Kant man, Mary Heppner, Ida Monninger, Ivate Spengler, Clara Butcher, Lixxie Crawford, Kate Crawford and Mrs. Jerton. Messrs. Adolph Kantman, Herman Von Eute, Joe Klrchuer, Fred Carle, Jo® Fehrenbach, Carl Rartenbach, Henry Wolfs, Tom Moreumb, Geo. Elbrecht, Herman KreuUig, John Heppner.

Senator Voorhees left Washington on Thursday for South Carolina, whither he.goes for a change cf climate and a rest from congressional duties. The senator's health has not been the beat of late.
Rev. Martin Buck, the hew Baptist preacher who is to assist Pastor Kirtley, arrived Thursday evening, and last night was given a reception at the Bap tist tabernacle, corner of Eighth street and Lafayette avenue.
