RVCI-E TOM'S CABIN.

Nav I or'» opera house will be dark on til Monday evening when Button Doable Uncle Tom'* Cabin company will appear playing at popular pricgp 23 35 and 50 cent*. The uaual BnJI Band Two Topaeyit, Two Marks, etc., will be seen and it is aafe too say to the usual crowded house that greets its per for tnanees will be on hand also this is tbe oolylUnele Tom company tbat play here this season, so tho*e who make it a point to attend tbe tbaatre only when an L'nele T#m company is holding forth bad better bear this fact in into J.

KATIE EMMKTT.

Naylor's opera house Tuesday Dec. 8th Katie Kminett will be seen in last sea son's successful comedy drama "The Waifs of New York." One of tbe prin cipal features of "The Waifs of New York's"great success, is the truth of the character pictures. Persons who have studied life in tbe slums of a great city, find the characters In the play drawn from living models and embodying all the recognizable characteristics of well defined types. Persons who have never penetrated the lowly side of life in great city, and have no persotial knowledge of the people mirrored in this piece, nevertheless feel aud appreciate the vitality of this representation, be cause truth in art requires no argument or explanation and carries its own convictions. Miss Km melt's supporting company this season is much stronger than last, Amy Amos, whom everybody knows, and Geo. W. Thompson are still retained of couse. Tbe new comers are Willard I/ee, I^eslie Edmunds, Ida Burrows, Edward Clifford, Ous Hennessy, Nellie Edmunds and Charles Prior. The scenery for the production is entirely new this season, and is a vivid panorama of New York City from the Batleiy to Central Park. Amy ames has a new specialty and Nellie Kdmunds,a sprightly comedienne, will be beard in song in the concert hall scene and altogether "The Waifs of New York" is tbe melo dramatie attraction of the day.

THK (IKK A'l HK lilt MANN.

The wonderful Herrmann, aided by Mrue. Herrmann, will be seen at Naylor's on Thursday evening Dec. 10th. He is beyond question the greatest of living necromaucers and sorcerers, aud his performances are among the uiost interesting lie red our theatregoers during the season. This year Herrmann has an entire new entertainment, and ho will produce several startling novelties in the way of illusions of his own invontlon and production. One of these Is tho famous "Strobeika." The story of the trick Is rather romatic. It tells of tho escape from a Russian torture chamber of a condemned oillcer of the guard, the escape boing accomplished by tbe substitution of the officer's sweetheart. He will also intioduce the famous oriental fakir, Abdul Khan, Herrmann's Illusions known as "New Black Art," "Elorine, Child of the Air,"

A Slave Girl's Droam.^fiud other interesting novelties. Till-: CHARITY ItAU,.

Tho St. Paul Globe of Nov. 3rd had this criticism of the company that is playing the Charity Ball this season, and that will bo seen tti the piece at Naylor's opera house on Saturday evening of next week. '•.Mr. Frohmati promised us a strong coin•t»ny for the rations parts, and he lias kept it* promise. Had hlscompany I wen brought here with a flourish of trumpets, niorcmlRht have IKHMI expected of Its members, but it is certain thai no more would have been realized. Royd Putniuit apneatwl as the young clergyman, the hen) of trie play, and his im•rsouatton of this noble-hearted man, cabs many good word*. In lending and gesture and liv-piav his work showed a thorouRh understanding of his art. W. A.Hands,asJud£i Knox, ami «»eo. II, l^onnrd, In the Hick Van Huren rme, were tho favor of tho people out front very early In the evening. Miss Kdvthe Chapman was Ann Croger. tfhe Is a clover and finished actress, and looked and acted the New York ulrl. who Is, next to.fohn Van Huren, the leading spirit of the nretly story. MUs Alice Kltou displayed genuine emotional power as Phyllis l.ec, aud thesweet pathos

Angel, tiie mother of tho Van Hurens, were charmingly reallxed tv Miss l-.lUa I/g«n. The grace and beauty of Miss Kthel Orey-

brooko make poor Judge Knox's sufferings the more exquisitely funny in Ike earlier aets, and little Miss Lowrle was so winsome a* Van Huren that nobody could lack *ympnthy for Alee. Hobluson in hi# love for her. Merrlam Bruce made the part of that loyI.«h lover very llfe-llko and interesting.

A

feature of the performance that calls for notice wss the clear drawl»a of the character* that made up the less prominent figures in th* play. All were well done, and it speaks well for Daniel Frohmnn's policy that such people aw engaged to fill them."

The soat sale for this engagement will open on Thursday morning. Pricet range from 25 cents to SI.00.
