Capt. D. D. Wheeler, who is now stationed in New York City, is in the city for a few days on leave of absence. Before returning east he will go to Yankton, Dak., where he has property interests.
Wm. A. Shores, of Fayette township, who was seriously injured by his horse about two weeks ago, is lying at hiB home in a very serious condition, and fears are entertained that he will not recover.
Prof. C. A. Waldo and wife, Miss Alice Waldo and Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Waldo's mother, started for Springfield, Mass., Wednesday afternoon. They will sail for Antwerp on the Steamer Noorland next Wednesday.
Geo. H. Prescott, supt. of motive power of the "Vandalla, attended the master mechanics convention at Cape May this week, and Chief Train Dispatcher R. B. Woolsey attended the annual convention of train dispatchers in Toledo.
Albert Pfeifer and wife have returned from their wedding trip, and have gone to housekeeping on south Eighth street. They were paesented with a handsome bed room set on their return by a number of Mr. Pfeifer's friends.
Chris. C. Postlethwaite, the popular clerk of the Big Four railway, has resigned his position with that company to take the agency of the Nickel Plate fast freight line in this city. He has opened an office at 652 Main street,{where he will be found ready to attend to the wants of shippers.
The Polyteohnio faculty will spend the summer vacation as follows: Dr. Eddy will be most of the time in Cincinnati. Prof. Wlckersham and family will go to Wisconsin. Prof. Kirschner will spend the summer along the New England coast. Prof. Mees will go to his home in Columbus, O. Prof. Gray, has gone to Providence R. I., and in August he will go to Washington. Prof. Noyes and wife will visit in Minneapolis. Prof. Place goes to Ithaca, N. Y., and Prof. Strvnk to Cincinnati.
The moonlight excursion of the season will be given by the Iroquois club next Monday (evening. The Steamer Janie Rae has been chartered for the occassion, and the Ringgold band will furnish the musio. No effort will be spared to make the occassion a success in eyerv Rense of the word. Flattered by the praise bestowed upon them by the press on the occassion of their excursions in 1889 and 1800 the members of the club feel that they have a reputation to sustain, and are preparing to outdo all previous efforts. No Invitations have been issued, but tloketa can be procured of the members of the elub.
