AMUSEMESTS.

A COLOSSAL BIBLICAL SPECTACLE.

The era of Solomon, the Israelitish icing, has «ver been fraught with an interest that will last through all ages There wa* BO much that was grand, u« much that was sumptuous, so much that wu prophetic, so much that was sacred 'BO much that was divine, attending and consequent to his reign, that history furnishes no parallel. Art has now been called in requisition as adventitous aid to biblical lore, and the glamour and glories of the past are reproduced in the jpreseut. The esainent artist, Mr. John ]Rettig, has devoted a year or more to personal research in Palestine, Jerusalem and the Holy Land, and has studiously mastered the history and traditions ef the Bible, and returning has produced a grand spectacular masterpiece, depicting the great temple, the w*lls and city of Jerusalem, the visit of the Queen of Sheba, the Judgment of

Solomon, and other notable scenes incidents and events during the regal admi nistratiou of the great Hebrew sage patriarch and king. In connection with the biggest and best circus on the road, the largest and most varied menagerie, and the vast royal Roman hippodrome, the management ef John Robinson's Great World's Exposition now present this transcendently beautiful and impressive spectacle for the gratification of their patrons.

The consolidated exhibitions will be given at Terre Haute on Wednesday, June 10th.

week after week I find mysolf wondering if you would not be pleased to hoar from us occasionally. "Geraldine" writes us such nifco letters, giving sometimes more than a bird's-eyo view of city life. As in her last letter she opens, with her pen, the door to your recent art exhibit—a door that quite a goodly number of your busy country readers «ould enter in no other way. I would that I held the pen of a ready wrltor as .she does that I might tell of some of the lovely pictures nature paints for us, so Taried that our galleries aro constantly full no charge for admission, only to pause and look.

Queer, is It not, that we find so many 'Who will not even do that much? If they could only pay a money value and own it so that some one else would admlre and envy, they would be perfectly .happy in possession of it. What though "Cleon hath a million acres,

Yet the landscape I. Cleon sees uo charm In nature, In a daisy 1 Cleon hears no anthem singing

In the sea and sky. Mature sings to roe forever, Earnest listener I ©tale for state with all attendants

Who will change? Not I." "However, I started out to tell you that we had quite a re-union of friends and relatives at the residence of Dr. L. E. Carson on Saturday evening, May 23. This being the 30th anniversary of their wedding, a hundred or more of their friends came in with baskets full of good thing* to ©at aud some of the more able* bodied ones carrying baskets of beautiful things to eat frem. The contents of "the last baskets were tastefully arranged «n aside table and Rev. Grey, of the U.

B. church, In well chosen words, presented to the dootor and wife a handsome ehlna dinner set consisting of one hun dred and forty plecwu Dr. Carson responded In his usual happy manner quite affecting the friends to team as he touchingly referred to crosses of sorrow they had borne, as well as the eroesea of joy they had worn together for these long years. Supper came next and it is certain that the tariff had no evil effect on either quantity or quality of that. Ninety-six ot the guests did full Justice to it-, while others came merely to expr*s* their kindly wishes and w*r» compelled to go away on business calls. The .guests retired at an early hour, each one wishing the doctor and his worthy wife life long enough* to celebrate their golden wedding.

On Sunday the Bllna Poet G. A. R. held memorial services In the M. E. ihurch, Rev. Grey delivering the address* As he was one of "the boys" ha was able to apeak from ko»wl«d®e, at»d quite aptly compared the soldier's army Ufa. to that of the so tar ef right doing, urging his hearer*, and especially the •"tor* In blue" to become soldter* of

the King. The ladies had the church tastefully decorated with flowers and plants. The music, led by Miss Nellie Mills as organist, was good and taking it all together it is one of the pages in memory's book we will keep marked. Thinking back to this near and other far away days, we are constraiped to say truly there is no death. That which sometimes seems so is but a walk in life for the living to strew flowers over and keep green, if we could only keep out the thorns.

Deafnew Can't Be Cared

by local applications, as they can not reack the diseased portion of the ear. There Is only one way to cure Deafness, and that is by constitutional remedies. Deafness is oaused by an inflamed condition of the mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube. When this tube gets inflamed you have a rumbling sound or imperfect hearing, and when it is entirely closed Deafness is the result, and unless the infiamation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will be destroyed forever nine cases out of ten are caused by catarrh, which is nothing but an in? flamed condition of the mucous surfaces.

Wo will give One Hundred Dollars for any case of Deafness (caused by Catarrh) that we cannot cure by taking Hall's Catarrh Cure. Send for circulars, free.
