The annual Vigo county Ur, which opened on Monday morning and continned during the entire week, was the greatest success achieved in the history of the Agricultural Society. The variety and extent of the exhibits was 50 per .cent ahead of laat year and the number Jot the exhibitors also largely increased.

In every department the displays were noticeably improved, and the fucreased facilities afforded by the new exhibition hall allowed exhibitors much greater scope for showing their goods to advantage. In the large hall there were dis plays by Flnkbiner A Duenweg, Hughes A Lewis, Wood it Wright, D. W. Watson's Sons, White sewing machine, Phi) Kadei, J. Ermi^h, Hollowsy A Buckingham, Hoberg, Root A Co., T. J. Griffith, L. Kussner, Basket works, Terre Haute Haute trunk company, Townley stove company, Keye»T buggy company, W. R. Hunter, C. W. Mitchell, George 8. Zimmerman, C. C. Smith, Biel A Urban wrench company, Sand ford fork and tool company and E. M. Watson. In addition were the fine art and school work displays for which special premiums were offered by the sooiety. The fancy work display was far ahead of all other years and simply magnificent. The children's department was especially improved. In the other buildings there were displayed the breads, canned goods, live stock, etc.. the variety and excellence was unprecedented. The live stock shows exceeded accommodations and it was necessary to build additional pens, etc. The farm Implement displays were good, and the farm product exhibits fine. The many amusements, including bal loon ascensions, horse races, etc., were on the usual order, and attracted 1m mense crowds. The marriage was groat affair and the fortunate couple received many substantial remembrances

The attendance on Thursday was the largest know for a single day in any thing ever undertaken here. There were fully 18,000 poople on the ground, and teams and wagons blockaded all the open space. On Friday there was also a large atttendanoe, but not equal to that of Thursday, although the majority of the business houses closed to enable their employes to go. The judges' duty was more exacting than ever by reason of the increased number of entries, in all about 4,000, but their duties were finally ended to the *atl faction of the general public. Of the special premums the Oarland range oflfered C. C. Smith for the best loaf of breed, was taken by Mrs. Mary Law, a colored woman living at 1019 Washington avenue. She also received a barrel of flour from W. Kidder A Sons, whose flour she used The list of premiums wait very long and lor this reason the Mall does not publish it in full. A good many of the veteran merchants of the city have shown commendable pride in making this fair the best ever held, and among them none deserves more credit than V. O. Dickhout. His display of trunks, valises, traveling satchels, telescopes, etc., was very oom plete and substantial. For twenty yean Mr. Dickhout haa oeen engaged in the manifacture of trunks, and his reputation has grown with each year's business. Now he has calls for trunks from long distances and invariably gives satisfaction. He constantly keeps a large stock of manufactured goods of his own make and from this yon caa select any style yon wish. If the stock does not contain what we want he will make it to yonr order. 646 Main. *i|

Among the various patterns were some handsome bronzes, silks, and rch raised velours. Messrs. T. J. ORIFFITH.

As usual, we found the enterprising shoe king of the city, Mr. T. J. Griffith, on band with a beautful display of boots, shoes and slippers. His location was one of the best in exhibition ball, and the many thousand visitors could not help seeing the excellence of the exhibit. He has certainly the highest grades of foot wear and requests careful Inspection. His place of business is at No. 32 south Fourth street, east side, between Main and Ohio. \1
