Prof. Oskar Duonweg gave a dancing reception to his pupils and friends Thursday evening. It was quite largely attended and was a delightful affair.

Ten years ago F. M. Christie, a young man, saved Mitts Alice Gibbons from drowning at the risk of his own life. Miss Gibbons obtained his name, and when she died two weeks ago she in acre him her heir to a considerable amount of money and property.

When the Secretary writes to the President, however, he signs his own name.
A young man in Raliegh, N. C., eloped with the wife of one of his neighbors a few da3*s ago, and the husband of the woman bad the man arrested for stealng his wife. The Justice of the Peace before whom the case came up dismissed it on the ground' that wife-stealing was not larceny, becouse a woman, even though a wife, is not personal property, and therefore could not be the subject of larceny.
Red Cloud, the Sioux chieftan who has signified his approval of the administration by calling on President Harrison, Is 64 years old, but looks much younger. He owns a big farm, raises corn for sale and is rich enough to live comfoitably without doing work with his own hands. He hires younger Ind ians to work his farm.
General Boulanger's cpstume on landing at Dover moved the British critics to laughter. He -wore a glossy silk hat and a bloc coat.
