George {Bancroft, tbe historian, is S-5 years old, and rides six miles every afternoon on the back of a Kentucky thoroughbred which cost him $1,000. It took just fifty volumes of the iflstory of the United States to pay for that horso, but Mr. Bancroft undoubtedly believes that if be takes out-door exercise regularly he may live to write more than enough to pay for him, and we hope he may.

He has procured a divorce, and is prosecuting her for arson.
