Their success

is

greatly owing to

their reasonable charges. Good work and low prices

is

their motto. Call on

them for any work in their line. The elegant show window of S. Loob A Co., the well-known hatters, at the sign of the Big Black Bear, corner of Main and Fifth streets, has new on ex* hibition the latest and most fashionable style* of hats and caps. Large as it is, all ihostylea cannot therein be displayed. You must go Inaide the ators to find the full extent and variety of the stock. OTHER PEOPLE.

The Harpers pay Nast #200 a week. Judge Tourgee's new lecture is entitled "Give Us a Rest."

Guiteau himself says his name should be pronounced Get'-o. General Butler seems to be pretty well cured of the habit of running for Governor of Massachusetts.

Senator Davis is an Ohio man—by education. He hails from Kenyon. He was born in Maryland, removing to Illinois when a very young man.

Josh Billings says he wouldn't give five cents to hear Bob Ingersoll on "The Mistakes of Moses," but bo would give $500 to hear Moses on the mistakes of Bob Ingersoll.

The fact that Mr. Tilden is spending $75,000 ia the improvement of his residence in Now York gives rise to a rumor that he does not intend to occupy the White House at present.

The convicts in the Ohio penitentiary have sent $100 to the Michigan sufferers. They raised this sum by deuying themselves the luxury of tobaeoe and from the sale of trinkets which they made.

Ex-Govornor Evans, of Colorado, has begun several suits for libel against the Denver Tribune, and among the complaints is one that the paper referred to him as "a nice old rooster." While alluding to a man as an aged rooster may not be in good taste or pleasant to the party so addressed, it is doubtful if the expression is criminally libelous, espeeially when a complimentary adjeetive is used to qualify the remark. When the caso is tried the definition of the word rooster will be awaited with interest.

I don't pertend to keep up with the fsshuns in dress. Them ladies as duz, look like peekox, this year. Indede, that burd might as well go out uv the show bizzness. Beside the woman uv fashun he is altogether too tame. And then I see that tight-legged trowsers fer the men is becoming the tum-lum proper-caper agin. Think of it and weep, ye spin-del-legged, double-knee-

capped swells, who have so long hidden your legs in baggy breeches. But you can pad.
