It is rumored that Riley, of the Brazil Miner, is negotiating the privilege of placing his plug hat under the editorial chair of the Saturday Night.

Prof. D. B. Brennecke came up from JCvansville this week, and made arrangements to give dancing lessons, at Dowling Hall, on the evening of the 31st inst.

The new grand jury, which began its work last Monday, is composed of T. C. Buntin, A. E. Lipk, IsaacKester. Wm. M. Crossley, Michael Byers and Horace Chamberlain.

Cliff W. Ross and wife were married teu years ago last Monday, and the evening of the tenth anniversary was made the occasion of a surprise visit from their many friends.

Tom Sibley is again in trouble. He confesses to taking ten dollars from a drunken coal miner, and is now in jail under bond of $200, with a fair prospect of shortly returning to Jefferson ville.

A drunkard took his eleven-year-old boy with him on a spree, at Maquoketa, Iowa, and gave him as much liquor as he drank himself. The boy died in the stupor of intoxication.

The Fisk university negro singers were refusod accomodation at four Torouto hotels. As soon as this became known, a number of wealthy white families tendered them hospitality.

Jennie June is responsible for an intimation that President Arthur is likely to marry, before the close of his administration, the widow of a well-known and very wealthy New Yorker (Mrs, Marshall O. Roberts),
