Not only promotes cleanliness, but is a tonic. 1'ho skin does one-third of. the work of breathing, and if tho myriad of

The tonic effect is caused by the contraction of the surface blood vessels, driving tho blood back to the larger blood vesisols of the heart, bringing on a reaction which rushes the blood back totheskin. causing a glow, freer respiration and mow vigorous action of tho whole muscular system. A sponge or hand bath are the simplest forms, and should le taken in a moderately warm room. As a rulo, tho more rapidly a bath is taken the better, and it should always bo followed by friction with tho hand or with a not too rough towel.

Fanny Field, in tho Prairio Farmer, answers the above qneSrtlon asking others which are telling, as following:

Who has cooked your meals, made, washed and mended vour clothes all these vears? Who made the butter and chefeso that you sold and pocketed the money fort Who took care of your children, nursed you when you were sick, and bore with your outrageous fault finding when things didn't go to suit you? Who patched, and darned, and contrived, and saved, and made every dollar do the work of three? And what has she had to pay hor for all this Just her board and clothes as she went rftong, and if you were to die tl!Pfnorrow all that she could claim of tho property that she had worked so hard tt| help you save, would be the use of onfr-thlrd of the real estate and In nino cases out of ten that Is literally worse than nothing. If it had not been for your wife's help, would you have been worth so much to-day as you are now? If you had been obliged to hire a woman to do the work that your wife has done for her board and clothea, do you imagine! that you could have done much more than make both ends meet?

APKRMON cannot possibly attend to business If he had been kept awake during the nlgnt by a troublesome coughj to all such we would recommend the timely use of Dr. Bull's Cough Syrup. Price, 25 cents.

cor,r.AR$ THAT DO NOT *IT. PB* gentlemen have obough to endure an ill-fitting collar with patience, but not many understand why they do not fit. Tho fact is, the laundress stretches them the wrong way. Damp linen is very pliable, and ft good pull will altar a fourtoen-inch into a fifteen-Inch collar in the twinkling of an eye. She ought to stretch them crosswise, and not lengthwise. Then, in straightening out shirt bosoms, she makes another mistake of the same sort. They also ought to be pollod crosswise instead of lengthwise, particularly in the neighborhood of the neck. A lengthwise pull draws the front of the neckband somewhat directly tinder your chtn, where it was never meant to go and, of course, that spoils the lit of your collar. With the front of the neckband an Inch too high, and the collar an inch too long, yon havf a most undesirable combination.' jt Is
