Scraps of Style.

The variety in buttons has never been exoeeded. ,, •. Beaded galloon la used again for binding hatbrims.

Feather fans are the caprice of the moment, but will not last. Only very little girls wear low-neck and short-sleeve dresses.

The greater the size of the cravat, the more fashionable it is. Flat jet beads held together by elastic bands are fashionable among people who wear morning.

Wraps for the autumn are in Dolman mantles and visites. Paletots will come in for the winter.

Dauphin gray, anew shade, is almost the color of gold, and combines with myrtle green and garnet.

In gloves of the new shapes the threebutton gloves will be as long as those ol four buttons of the old pattern.

It is feared that bustles must again be resorted to to sustain the drapery of the bouffant costumes now in iavor.

Shot silks are imported for dress goods, for parts of costumes, and for bonnet trimmings for the fall and win ter.

Beetles and other natural bugs in the changeable colors now in vogue are mounted on gilt, and set about the bonnet in various places.

It is most probable that variations of the carmen and poke shapes will be re tained for large bonnets will be of capote shapes.

The English style of dancing at pres ent is very quiet. The gliding waltzes are as stately as minuets, and consequently short dresses do not seem inappropriate.

Ladies who have preserved the embroidered skirts made to wear with old fashioned wrappers will be glad to find that morning dresses are again to be turned back so as to display the petticoat.

Tear-drop rings, consisting of bangles with small pear-shaped pendant, are now worn in Paris. One forces as many of these rings as possible on a single finger, and it is understood that each tear is the gift of a friend.

The new silks for autumn wear have brocaded stripes of two or three colors or else small Bhot figures. The stripes are about an ImJh wide, and alternate with pencil lines of twilled satin. These silks will be used for sashes, side panels or vests.

Some of the bonnets prepared f.r the autumn by the French milliners have the crown covered with plumage or a bird, and the brim hidden by gathered velvet or silk, and others have all the trimming placed on the brim, and the orown composed of silk or satin.

FASHION'S LATEST ORDER. Will women obey it? Certainly. They have already executed the order in the ultra fashionable places. The order decrees more bustle, an abandonment of sober colors, a reign of bright, gaudy suits like tho old Dolly Varden patterns, and hoopB. Those who oppose may as wall surrender, for the fashion will have Its way. A correspondent of the Boston Sunday Herald, writing of the fashions at fashionable Saratoga says: "White toilets are about the only things which show the signs of wear and tear. Those who were sensible enough to have such dresses made short are now congratulating themselves, for they have had the best of ty in many ways. Trains suffer when allowed to drag, or if they are held up they ?re crushed, There would be grouud for hope that the ladies who have tasted the freedom of short skirts, and the comfort of having two bauds for use, would nsver again yield to the tyranny and extravagance of trains, if it were not that every women rejoiced when emancipated from the bustle a few years ago, and yet, with a vivid remembrance of the discomforts of the excrescence on the back, many have returned to the style, and it is possible "that the winter fashions will be quite decided in favor of bustles, and even small hoops. Women have no rest about thelifclotbes. A few yean ago it was almost impossible to have too much volume in skirta. When this was accomplished every garment bad to be altered so as to fit as closely as possible.

Worth Issued an edict against any under-sklrls, and Invented buck--akin tights for winter and French cambrfe for summer wear.

The hereditary garments of Uk» mammas were totally discarded. Fashionable women have to obey the dictates of fashion, and they pay a heavy penalty. The bandanas and gaudy colors which are now the rage axe a reaction from the long reign of sombre browns and blacks. The Dolly Varden, which had such a rage six years ago, is revived, but does not go by that protty name. Salines, foulards, ptklns, and even more common goods, as well as (brocaded silks, have the surface sprinkled with bright flowers. Striped satins are combined with plain oolors. Belts are much worn, the favorite style being of white canvas the same material which is oaed'for the surcingle of horses. Tbeee belts are very wide, and are worn even with black illkdrw -iM. Mats and bonnets are worn, if a lady employs a halrr***e:re ther* an amount of false oat on I. tmet fits, and, bei- i!. thecholoo Is between an elaborate .:foreoranexpense
