Mayor Havens has opened an office in the city building, adjoining the Mayor's olllcfl, where he can be found from 9 a. m. till 4 p. m. each day. He also intends keeping open bis office on Main street. I

Geo. h. Hagar, of the Paris Republican, is in the city lookingover the scenes of bis youth—that is, as many of the old landmarks as be can find.

The venerable and much esteemed mother of Dr. Will Arm«trong was re cently strickeu with paralysis. The left side is wholly paralyzed, and at her advanoed age—seventy six years—there is no hope of recovery. She is at Fay ettevllle, near Bedford, ibis State, where she was visiting.

Muncie Dally News: John Husted's daughter, Mrs. Harper, of Terre Haute, while visiting different watering places in Wisconsin, this summer, wrote interesting descriptive letters for the Terre Hsute Mall. Mrs. Harper is one of the best writers in Indiana.

Rev. I. G. Morrill paraphrased the tenth chapter of Chronicles for the Express, Friday morning.

Mrs. E. B. Allen went to Indianapolis this week. Mrs. E. J. Hughes is in Evansville.

Gen, M. C. Hunter was in the city this week planning for the reunion. T. W. Harper is out once more after an illness of nearly a week. 2 '.

Joe D. Fraley, a former Vandalia con ductor, is now running a hotel at Eaton Rapids, Mich.

Miss Mary Heberd, of Vincennes, will be married at her home on Tuesday next to Mr. Jantes, of Kansas City, Mo. Quite number of friends will go down from this city to attend the wedding.

Rev. Alex. Sterrett* will to morrow exchange pulpits with Rev. Dr. Armstrong, a noted divine of Alton, Ills. An effort is being made to secure the services of Dr. Arawtrong for the First Presbyterian church of this city.

Foster Bros, give away to-nigbt a nice stove shovel. Terry, of the Ledger, looks glum, and Will Ball, of the Gazette, carries around with him a shiialab as big as a table leg.

Ben. G. Hud nut, Jay Keyes and Nick Smith will attend the wedding of Miss Heberd at Vinoennes next Tuesday.

Joe T. Magner, the Indianapolis city clerk, was in the city this week, the guest of Frank Mills. His friends will be glad to know that he is looking well and getting along nloely with bis official duties.

Mrs. M. Hice Waketield, of Verona, Pennsylvania, and her daughter, Mrs. Sallte Hice Flndlay, are visiting the family of Frank Milia.
