Hon. John P. Usher, of Lawrence, TTairag, was in the city this week. Andy Magnire has sold his property in this city and will remove to Texas.

Col. Bob Ingersoll has declined the Berlin mission and will lecture in this city shortly

Col. W. K. Edwards was elected Grand Chief Patriarch of the Grand Encampment oi the State, I. 0. O. F., at Indianapolis this week. This is the highest position iu that ordor in tho State.

Cirr & White bavo sold their grocery house, corner of Walnut and Fourth, to Joseph M. Smith, of Hulman «fc Cox's and Ed. S. Burnett, mail agent on the K. A. C. R. R. Mr. Carr will go to Portland, Oregon, and Mr. White will return to his Sulllvau home.

Rev. James Oakey Is visiting this cityl the home of bis boyhood. He has recently been called to a Preebyteriatf church at Rldgefield, forty miles northwest of Chicago. He will be here a couple of weeks and will probably preach at least termnu during his stay.

A large party of the friends of Mr. L. G. Benson auj wife, of north Sixth street, assembled last evening to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of the}r wedding, and a delightful time was th result. Mr. B. and wife were the recipients of a number of useful presents.

Miss Louise Freeman has recently ex ecuted a large crayon portrait of Col. R. W. Thompson, tbe best work yet done by this gifted artist. It is on exhibition in Button & Co's show window, and elioits general admiration. It is a re markably fine drawing and a striking picture of our Secretary.

The ladles should not forget that Mrs, N. E. Mayfield has moved to the Koopman Block, opposite the Congregational Church, on Sixth street.
