cheerful burglar has commenced
his winter round of midnight calls. He stopped at Lee Brothers, earner of Sixth and Ohio streets, last night—entering by the Ohio street door after smashing the glass and drawing the bolts—and supplied himself with several dozen cans of choice fruits, assorted, all the quails, and many other Christinas delicacies. He broke the money drawer to pieces and made an attempt to get in the safe but got no cash.
The sneak thief, too, Is abroad. He called at the residence of Mr. Thomas Johnson yesterday, while tho family were out, and took 18 In monoy, a revolver, a pistol and a watch. Ho also made a call upon Itev. W. H. Anderson and lady, tlioy being absent, and plundered the house. Probably he didn't know it was tho residence of a minister, or he would have shown bettor jndg ment. This was a rich minister, bowever, and thes. t. did get two silver half dollars. He afterwards paid his respects to Lu. Giliuore, ex-cliief of police, and appropriated his gold badge, which will no doubt be very m*ful to him, and a quantity of silverware. He took Gilmore's savage watch dog up stairs and locked him up where nothing would worry him. A call was also mado up on John o'lloylc, corner of JUghth and Mulberry, but he didn't seem to find anything he wanted and left. He will probably make as many c-alls during the holiday week as circumstances will permit,
