Mr. Milligan went out with it to see that the contribution was properly distributed.
THK City Coancil has under consideration a preposition to take the judicial duties from the Mayor, and create Police Judge. The proposed change meets the fiwor of Mayor Thomas, who says that almost every day he has to pass judgment upon laws that he has been instrumental in making. The Mail advocated this separation previous to the last general city election. Hie office of Mayor should be made more ornamental than otherwise, with only nominal salary. ^**1
JUST four weeks ago this evening William Rudifer shot Jere Pickard Loekily the murderous purpose did not result fat&Ily. Piekard is about able to resume his du^ios, and Rudifer has entered upon along and dreary imprisonment of ten years in the Penitentiary. He was arraigned in the Criminal Court on Tho rsdav, By advice of his attorney W. W.
