IT is understood that a very important enterpri-i which it was supposed had been scoured for this city, is about to foil for want of substantial encouragement. Some of the owners of land in the immediate vicinity of one of the points spoken of arc persons, of ample means, and hayo been considered fhrseeing and enterprising. Most of the parties interested are willing to do their share In the premises, but some of those who would derive the greatest benefit from the location of the enterprise here, are unwilling to invest either money or land in It, although the investment would result in a very largo and speedy return by the increased valuo of the property.

T. II. R. R. Some parties had a lawsuit which ended in a general row amongst some of the parties who were present. George Dickey, one of the parties, who keeps a saloon at that point, was followed by Tom Williams, the foreman of tho Markland Coal Company and who it seems persisted in quarreling. Dickey took down his revolver and ordered Williams to leave, after which he fired throe shots at him, one of which penetrated his breast in tho vicinity of tho heart, and wliich it Is thought will prove iatnl. Dickey was arrested and gave ball In the sum of ftsoo for his appearanco.

Itwss manufactured to tho order of Jack Slade, one of tho heroes who figured conspicuously in Mark Twain's "Roughing it," and was carried by him in many of his little unpleasantnesses. It was taken out of his pocket after he had no further use for it, or, In other words, shortly after he was hung, and given to his Wifb who disposed of it to another party who sold it to its preset owner. Old John Eoblnson, the rival of P. T. Barnum in the show world, will be here with his mammoth show on Thursday, June 4th. He is now on his fifty-first annual tour, and claims that his Exposition equals in extent and variety any ten shows in America. The museum department'is replete with specimens of the animal kingdom from all parts of the earth, upon which the management has expended a munificent fortune, and which comprises fifty cages of animals. The circus is, it is claimed, the best in the world, there being one hundred star artists in the arenie department, in addition to which twenty female artists have been secured from the most celebrated ampliitheaters of tho Old World. JOHN RICE sold liquor at St. Marys without liccnse, for which slight indiscretion the grand jury called upon him in order that he might pay his respects to the Criminal Court, and liquidate what small amount that tribunal should deem owing to the injured law. John couldn't see it in that light, so ho gave up the business and has muco made a pastime of eluding tho officers, none Of whom know him. Tho search for him was unavailing, until yesterday, when Sheriff Hull and his deputy Hamilton overtook him just as ho was leaving the city by way of the county bridge, and requested him to favor them with a private audience at the limestone palace, corner of Third and Walnut.
