Democratic politicians are coming forward fbr the county offices as though they intended to sweep the board. Republican aspirants, thus far, are mum as a "bound boy at a shucking."

It doesn't take long to close out a stock of goods in this city, if you go at it in the right way. First make up your mind what to do—then see the printer, and determine to back up every assertion put in type. S. C. Scott, the shoe dealer, understands this. As mentioned last week, he has taken the interest of the late James Johnson, in the wholesale grocery house of Bowser A Johnson, and as soon as he can close out his stook of Boots and Shooes will devote his sole attention to the new business. He announced that there was ''no foolishness''

Mr. Soott is determined to close hia immense stock within a month, whatever sacrifice he may make, and ha will do it. Go early next week, or this evening, If you have time, for there are bargains to be had at a C. Scott's in Boots and Shoea.

Nobbiest Goods," "Grandeat Selection," the "Crack Cutter" "Bart Workmen," are the four corners upon which Moasler of the "Square-Dealing, OnePrice Clothing House," have bullded their Merchant Tailoring Department. Prof. Neekamp has had his hands full since his arrival, and many of our people will appear upon the streets to-morrow arrayed in the nobby styles and newcat cuts, at his hands from a fine line of piece goods. There are more of the same sort. Go early next week and make a aeleotton.

People are beginning to breathe easier 4he opinion is quite prevalent that business will soon revive. Still it is not likely that money will be so abundant that it will not, to somo extent at least, be necessary to practice economy, TJiero is away in which many dollars can be saved this year. It is by purchasing your boots and shoes, for men and boys, women and misses, girls and babies, at Noyes Andrews, south side of Main, just east of Fifth street. While other dealers announce selling at cost and all that sort of thing, the people who know where to get good foot wear at the lowest living prices, go to Andrews.

The Springfield Fire and Marine Insurance Company is still one of the favorite companies with the insuring public of this city, for a good reason. It has always done Hair honorable business, paid its losses promptly, and never has had a voice raised against it by any one. You will find it always safe to hold a Springfield Policy, and you can find the company represented at the Headquarters of Insurance, on the east side of 6th street, s:cond door from Main street.

You may talk about the temperance crusade, woman's rights or the election, but we maintain that women possess the inalienable right to purchase their notions, trimmings, hair goods, laces, parasols, ribbons, handkerchief^ and all the little nice things that go to rig them out for the street or home circle—we say no one can deny them the inestimable privilege of purchasing these articles at Riddle's. "The "Nflsson sleeve" ia the latest. Yon can make it best with a Singer." There is music in that sentence, which we clip from an exchange. We make a «pte of it merely to draw attention of all who intend to purchase a sewing machine this spring to the merits of the Singer. Just call at No. 74 Main street, and Mr. Marshall will tell you all about it,

Warm weather seems tardy in coming tiiis season, but it will come next week. Bnntin A Armstrong will blow in and blowout their popular soda fountain. Far pure liquor* of every variety for medicinal and other purposes, the choicest tobaccos and cigars, the opportunity to purchase with an honest dealer, one whoae word can be relied on in these days of adulteration and imposition, there can be no doubt that the place to go ia to James B. It inakea all the difference in. the world, to young beginners learning to play the piano, to have attractive music. We suggest to parents having daughters that they are anxious to have progress, to go to W. 11. Paige A Co. and have them select from their large stock, attractive sheet music and music books. They are practical musicians, and on knowing the proficiency of the learner, can select with judgment and taste.

With the ooming in of pleasant weather, the beads of many Interesting families are dusting up the family carriago, rubbing down the horses, and overhauling the harness, in anticipation of many delightful drives.
