Next week—Fiiday and Saturday afternoon and evening—Miss
Fanny
Price, supported by an excellent dramatic company, will appear at the Opera House. This talented actress has ever been a favorite with our people, and now that she proposes to make Terre Haute her home, this interest will be greatly Increased. "Little Bare foot" will be given on Friday «yenlng and Arrah-Na-Pogue on Saturday evening. At the matinee performance on the Fourth, we are to have "Rip Van Winkle," and on Saturday afternoon "Fanchon." After this brief engagement Miss Price will retire to her new home near this city, until September when she will renew her professional engagements.
HOW TO KEEP COOL. Stew around as much as you can before breakfast. Find fault with your wife. Upbraid the help, and jaw tho children.
Don't permit yourself to be suited with the morning meal. On reaching your place of business, fume round because some trifling thing hasn't been attended to.
Make it warm as you can for your partner, and he will probably reciprocate by making it warm for you.
Run out every half hour and get a drink. Along about the middle of the day chase around after delinquent creditors the worst cases tho better.
Swoar a little. Grow2 about the heat. Take another drink. Work yourself into a lather trying to get a full day's work out of your men.
Wipe your face vigorously with your pocket-handkerchief every two minutes. (iet into a dispute on some trivial matter.
Drink some more. Go home to a cold dinner and have your wife make it hot for you.
Kick up a quarrel with a neighbor. Mop, growl, swear and drink until bed-time, and spend the night lighting mosquitoes to save the expense of a mosquito-bar.
If by following the above roles faith fully you are unable to keep cool, your case Is hopeless.
S N A S E S I O N S Road The Mali this evening and go to bed.
Riso early and take a bath. Make np your mind to go to church. Don't be afraid to put a little something on the collection plate.
Ifyou feel It yeur duty to sleep in church, all right—but snore with the soft podal down.
Almost all, if not, indeed, every one, of the sermons preached to-morrow will have something good In them. The texts will be good, anyhow.

8lx days in the week Is sufficient time for all Railroads leading Into our city within which to transact their local business, (except in cases of positive necessity.) The I. A St. L. Co., however, make a practice of bringing out their Switch Engine on Sabbath evening, and obstructing the street crossings from the river to Ninth street, at the very hours In the evening that a large number of persons living North of said ralroad are pawing to and from the city to church, or pleasure. especially on Seventh street. The citisens living near said railroad are getting very timl of being annoyed on Sabbath evening from four or five o'clock until ten at night. with the shrieking and noise of a locomotive, when they do not believe there is any real necessity for it. Other Railroad Co's, with aa much or more business in this city do not resort to this local Sabbath work, and tha I. A St. I., Co. should be requested by the authorities to discontinue It as a matter ot Justice and protection to eiUaene living North Of said railroad. "North Sidk."

There are some classes of business men found everywhere and are essen tla! part of every well regulaled community. Among these may bo mentioned the grocer. Among this class we have quite a number of first-class dealers. Prominent among them stands Jacob White, on the southwest corner of Fourth and Cherry streets. Keeping a full stock of the choicest table supplies, selling at the lowest rates, studying to please eyery patron it is no wonder that he has established and holds so large a trade.

The Board of Health hereby request to be informed of any non-compliance with the notices served during the last few days, upon residents in this city, to clean their premises of all filth. Such information will receive prompt attention, as the Board aro determined to put the city in the best sanitary condition possible. The Board would not give unnecessary alarm, and yet it is an undoubted fact that a form of cholera is visiting tho cities immediately south of us, and in so near proximity as to warn us to "put our house in order." It may not be, and probably is not Asiatic cbolora, but it is sufficiently fatal to prompt the use of evory moans to ward off its visit. It is hoped all
