TUB LITTLE PEOPLE.
A Boston firm of clothiers have (jot out patent trowsers for boy*, with copper rivets and steel knee-plates.
A little boy asked a lady who made her teeth. "Mv Creator," she replied "Well," said the youngster, "Dr. made my ma's, and they beat yonr'n clean out o' sight."
A little throe-year old girl, who did not want to kiss the family good night, hut was obliged to do it "as a means of discipline," went through the performance conscientiously, and as she kissed the last one-she heaved a sigh of relief, and exclaimed, "Amen." lgsi teacher, after trying hard to impress on the minds of a "class of small boys the sin of Habbath breaking, asked, "Is Sunday better than any other day?" When the smallest boy in the class answered promptly, "You bet your boots it la the answer seemed satisfactory.

For some years school-boys inclined to "slargv" nave roferred to some period of indefinite romoteness, as "eighteen hundred and starved to death." The origin of the expression is explained by a Now Hampshire journal In a paragraph about a year without a summer. While.every one was speaking of the present season as being remarlcable in it* characteristics, ibis nowspaper gave some facts concerning the year 1801, known as the year without "the summer."

tnrougbout Europe or America. The winter was mild. Frost and ice were common in every month of the year. Very little vegetation matured in the Eastern and Middle States. The average price of flour during that 3*ear was $l:$ per barrel, and the average price of wheat in England was ninety-seven shillings per quarter. Okl New England farmers referred to the years as "eighteen hundred death."

FINDING A BOOTJACK. A housekeeper writes the following plaint to the Cleveland Loader
Whon the average husband of the period wants to liud a bootjack he steps to tho buttery t'oor, and leaning against the door-way with his hands in his pockots, whistles meditatively as his eyes wander along the upper shelves. When a break in the tune occurs, you may know he has found the cake, which he devours absently, still looking for the bootjack. Being now deprived of that aid to reflectionwhistling, ho .exoeutos a waltz in slow movement, sustained by a large piece of cake in ono band, a sizable pickle in the other. After a while, as the bootjack does not mako Its appoaranco the husband does, at tho door of the room, where j*ou are getting the baby to nleep, and shouts "Jane," at the top of his voice, under the impression that you are up stairs, an impression speedily removed. To cover the confusion of his retroat. ho stops on tie dog's tail and bumps the blrd-bage with his head then wants to know what you have dono with that bootjack, and why it is that you never keep things in their place. If you aro wlso and simply and calmly point, like Columbia, to tho object In question hanging on its accustomed nail, hesolzos upon it wrathfully, with tho solemn vow that it was not thore when ho went through tho room beforo.
Tho offending boots nro finally left In tho doorway whore It is convenient to trip over them, and serenity transpires, unless yon have occasion to go around them, whon you will at onco seo their valuo as a natural means of obstructing a passageway. It is estimated that ono pair of boots Judiciously disposed about an apartment of medium side, will prevent elthor a woll-disposed person or a professional burglar from quietly making his way about it.
At tea time tho averiigo husband does not care about any cake: it isn't much liko that his mothor used to make.
