The concert last evening, we believe, was for the benefit of Miss Kellogg. Our people have been quite generous to this favorite and accomplished vocalist. We have another lady vocalist deserving of a rousing, substantial benefit concert. We. refer to Mrs. Anna Lange Gould. We do not know that such a movement would be agreeable to her, and make this suggestion entirely upon our own responsibility. But we do know that the amateur vocalists of this city would consider it a great favor to assist in such a compliment, and the people of every grade and class would respond in a substantial benefit to one so worthy and who is ever ready and willing to lend her fine musical abilities whenever called upon. Will some one take the initiatory steps?

No man ever did a designed injury to another without doing a greater to himself and jjiany people do great injury to themselves by swallowing impure and adulterated drugs and medicines, when a pure article can be had of Gulick & Berry, the well, known and reliable druggists.
If we thoroughly examine, we shalj find that pride, policy, and power are thre^ principal ingredients in all the disturbances of a church, and if we thoroughly examine the stock of boots and shoes at No. 10 south Fourth street, we shall find that nowhere else can better bargains be had in serviceable foot wear, and to the least disturbance of your pocket.
Uprightness in our dealings with each other is a matter not of human convenience, but divine requirement, and God will punish the want of it by exclusion from Heaven. We clip this paragraph from a religious exchange and we know of no better applicatiorf to make of it than to R. W. Rippetoe the honest and upright grocoryman at the White Front. /f
As sins proceed they ever multiply and, like figures in arithmetic, the last stands for more than all that went before it. Speaking of "figures," it is no "sin" to remind the readers of The Mail that low figuros are the rule now until Spring on all of Riddle's stock of notions, trimmings, etc. He must have money to buy new spring goods at whatever sacrifice.
Commend us to a man who holds his faith, whatever it be, with a manly grip, "speaking the truth in love." When one is always striving to pleaae self there is always a dearth of ways and means. But let an effort bo made to please others and what a variety,of avenues aro opened. Turner & ShilUto .are constantly opening these ,avenues, and that's why they enjoy such, an enviable popularity as dealers in groceries, country produce and feod for man and beast.
True glory consists in doing what dogervYS «o be written, in writing what deserves to be read, and in so living as to mako the world happier and better for otar living in it and in writing what deserves to be read, we put down the hot that no batter place in tbe city can be found to bay groceries and country produce than at White & MelYin's, corner Fourth and Cherry
Aim high but not so high as not to be able to bit anything. The highest aim of J.» P. Bren&n & Co, is to please their customers. They seldom, if ever Ml to make a hit, and a fit.
