10,000 EDITION

.OF THE

SATURDAY EVENING MAIL.

TO BUNI2TE1I8 MEM.

$ Next week we will Issue ah extra edition or TEN THOUSAND COPIES of the Saturday Evening Mail. Instead, however, of sending it, as heretofore, over a broad expanse of territory, the entire edition will be distributed in this and the adjoining counties of this State and Illinois, thus making it ••J of greater benefit as an advertising medium.

Agents have been secured in each of the following towns who are instructed to put a copy in every dwelling and business house, manufactory and shop, and in the hands of every farmer who may be in town on that day, viz: Mar* .^1 shall, Paris, Sullivan, Brazil, Rockville,

Clinton, Newport, Eugene, Howling Green, etc. 1 ,5 Only a limited space will be devoted to advertising, as the main object is to bring into favorable notice The Mail, as an attractive, readable paper. This tact will also insure advertisers that it will be faithfully distributed in all the towns and country contributing trade to this city.

Advertisements should be handed in, or space secured on Monday, or at the latest Tuesday noon. ^r

ItKADRR, are you tho unfortunate possessor of a coal pile in front of your door? If so, then you are an object of sympathy. Peace leaves you from the moment your bituminous fuel is deposited at your door-way grimy, liun-gry-looking urchins throng tho entrance to your office, and a dozen voices shout in concert: "Mister, is that yer ccal To which you reply, "It is, f.iir youth." "I)o you want it fetched up?" "Wo dost." What'll yorgive?" You state the amount which you consider an equivalent, and then the two largest boys kick the little ones down stairs, and close tho bargain with you. After borrowing your coal scuttle, and firo shovel, and your neighbor's coal-scuttle

gand

fire-shovel, they coinmonce opera-

•:tlons. How they clatter and clamor up and down stairs, spilling coal everywhero and making more noise than a whole llotilhi of mortar bouts. At •, length they announce that tho coal is carried up. You know this is not so, ,• that uluKKHt one fourth tho coal yet remains below, while another one-fourth

Is pr)fusoly scattered from the top to th« bottom of the stairs. lint you are half-choked with coal dust, your head aches with the noise, and to obtain peace you are retllyglad to pay even -*ii dtmo more lh:in you promised. If you are nervous it will take a day or two to recover vnur placidity. 1
