revengeful traveler on a certain railroad in this State packed a carpet-baj., full of loaded revolvers, and handed it to a gentlemanly baggage smasher, who had ruined three or four trunks for ldm already. The smasher Hung the bag up against the wall savagely, and I hen threw it oil the floor, and stamped on il, and jumped up and down on it as usual. At about the fourth jump, firing began along tho whole line. Kortv-six revolvers went olf in rapid succession distributing indicts around the ear with disgusting carelessness of the legs of (ho smasher who was shot in six places before he could get out of tho ear. He rode on the platform during the whole of that trip, and when he did enter the car he encased his iegs in stovepipe, and ran an iron-clad snow-plow in front of him to push the baggage out with.

The building of the Northern Pacific Railroad, (bc^un July last), is beinn pushed forward with (L'rcatciu rtty from both extremities of the lines.
