THE preliminary trial of T. C. Stewart for shooting the little boy, Thomas Blannett, on Wednesday, catne off before the Mayor this morning. Stewart was bound over in the sum of SLOOO to appear for trial at the next term of the Criminal Court. He was unable to give bond and was returned to jail. John Combs gave a bond of $100 to appear as witness in the case.

Two loose horses with tho harness on were taken up 011 North Sixth Street this morning, by a policeman, and lodged in Carrico's livery stable. The owner, who gives his name as George Reed, and residence at Brazil, came to the surface some time afterward in a state of beastly intoxication, and was lodged in tho station house. An "intimate friend" of Reed's very kindly offered to tako charge of the horses, but being unablo to establish the fact of his intimacy, was denied the performance of this duty.
