AN IMPKRTAT, PIUXTKR.—It has been reported, and then denied in soveral Paris journals, that a printing press had been set up at the Tuileries for the uso of the Prineo Imperial, who it is saul, has a fancv for the trade of a compositor. We happen to know that, in spito of official contradictions—and everybody knows what official contradictions are worth in Kraneo—the fact is true, and that his Imperial Highness has really turned printer's devil. His printing press was arranged, and lessons in tho art and mystery of typography are to be given him bv 0110 of tho chief emplovers in tho well-known printing and publishing establishment of Mr. Firmin Dirlot. The Prince's tutor in the art of Caxton and Elzevir is well known for its thorough aequaintainco with its theory and practice, aiul has received the Cross of the Region of Honor for the improvements introduced by him in typography. Under such able hands it is to hoped that his Imperial Highness will prove an apt pupil, and that ho will in time be thought worthy to "compose, "in a technical sense, his Fathers letters and proclamations.
A rather bashful young man, after 1 long and arduous courtship, found himself, one bright evening, the betrothed of a pretty girl, the very pink of modesty. He was about to take his departure, and after lingering about the door for some time, he declared and protested to Miss Sallie that he couldn't sind wouldn't leave until she had kissed him. Of course Miss Sallie blushed beautifully red and vowed in return that she could not and would not do that—she never had done such a thing, find

would-until she was married. The altercation became exciting, until the gentleman got huffed and declared it she couldn't kiss liewouldn'd have her, and was marching off. She watched him to tho door, and seeing he was in earnest, and that she would lose him unless some thing was done, she said coaxingly: "Come back, then, I'll split the difference with you. You may squeeze my hand,"

epiostion is very simple. A Chinaman has tho same right to be born into the world aa any other child of Adam. Having a right to live, he has a right to *arn his livelihood wherever he can lC8t find work and wages. Knowing that, of all countries on I ho earth. America offers the greatest advantages yfwfcing-men, he has a right to come hither and take his chances with the rest, lieing here, he has a right to be treated with the same justice and generositv a* we show to other men.
