"ttWt armi-dina- to the foreknowledge of God. the
Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedi
ence and sprinkling ot the blood 01 Jesus uinst, grace unto' you and peace, be multiplied." 1 Pet. 1:2-
In reading God's word, we need to recognize the omnis
cience, andthe sovereignty of God; that He knows all things, and works all things after counsel of His own
will. Whether we believe it or not, according to Scripture, whatever has been, or will be, has occurred, and will oc
cur, by Divine appointment, and by Divine permission,
and decree. No, things don't just happen with God; even
sin is in the world because God permitted it ; even though
He foreknew that it would cost Him the death of His Son on the cross. He could have prevented sin in the begin
ning, or could have entirely' destroyed it at any time in the ages that have passed, and did once, by the flood, and will again, in His own good time, permanently cleanse the earth of all sin and make It a fit place for the redeemed to dwell throughout eternity. (Read Rev- 21) God is not going to be disappointed or fooled in the final outcome of things, because in Acts 15:18 we read, "Known unto God are all His works from the, beginning of the world;" and
in Isa. 46:10, "Declaring the end from the beginning, and
Irom ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand and I will do all My pleasure;" and again in Isa. 14:24, "The Lord of hosts hath sworn saying, surely as I have thought, so shall it come
to pass, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand." Be
cause of this, His foreknowledge, He also knew who
would believe and be saved, and these are the ones He calls the elect. They are not just candidates, as some
would have .you believe; but are forever elected, to be
with and to be like Him. 1 Jno- 3:2- And let me say here, that election is not based on worthiness, none of us are
worthy, but on the grace and goodness of God,' without
which all would go'to Hell forever, because all have sin
ned, and do sin, whether you admit it or not, it is true.
The wonder is not, that God hated Esau, but that He
loved Jacob, or any of us, when we consider what we have
been, and are. We are elected, our Scripture says, through sanctifi
cation cf the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is in the world, seeking out these whom the Lord has chosen from the begin
ning, 2 Thess. 2:13, convicting them "of sin, of righteous'
ness and judgment to come," and working within them the miracle of the new birth, without which no one will
ever be saved. It says too, that we are elected unto obedience. Do you know that it is impossible for any 'one to
obey, or please God, who is not born again, thus becoming
Gods workmanship. Eph. 2:10. In Ezek. 36:27, we read, "And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to
yalk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and
db them." This must Jake' place in the life ot every one, before their works ai acceptable tdJSocl Then too, it
says, we are elected unto the "sprinkling of the blood of
Jesus Christ- This is the all important thing m Salva
tion. for without it. there is none. All who have ever been
saved, or will be; have been saved through the blood of
Jesus Christ, because "it is the blood (and the blood
alone) that makes an atonement for the soul;" the blood
which we read in Heb-12:24, "that speaketh better things than the blood of Abel. Abel's blood spoke of condemnation, but Christ's blood speaks of reconciliation, and the application of His blood alone, can save you from the eternal wrath of God; and it is applied only in the process of the new birth ; not in wcter baptism, or communion, or anything' else. that man can do; only through the work of God in the heart: Make sure that you have it, for without if, the fires of Hell will be your everlasting portion. "Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God and His Father ; to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen." 'Rev. 1 :6. y (Adv.)
