1 He was born in Revere, Mass., Jan. 13, 1834. He was a Harvard graduate and became a teacher, journalist, and Unitarian minister. He moved to New York City in 1866, and his experiences gained in efforts to improve conditions of street boys, are reflected in over 100 books which he wrote which had a vogue among juveniles that comic books have today. Some of them were Pluck and Luck, Ragged Dick, Tattered Tom, Strive and Succeed, Phil the Fiddler, Paul the Peddler and Sink or Swim. He died at Natick, Mass.. in 1889. BIBLE SCHOOL TO CLOSE The Palmer's Prairie Vacation Bible School will close Friday night with a program in the church building. The exercises will begin at 7:30 p. m.
