opinion that the further and final

hearing . . . (should be) concluded at an early date in order that the commission can finally dispose of this matter," the PSC order said. The commission set Sept. 12 as the date when the hearing, which was recessed May 23, would resume. The order said the commission should have an opportunity to hear testimony by Public Counselor William E. Steckler and interveners before reaching its decision. Only Indiana Bell witnesses testified during the hearing in May, and they were not cross-examined by Steckler then. The commission also pointed out that an investigation by hired experts had not been concluded, and it should have an opportunity to study those results before ruling.
