'The Son of Man goeth as it is written of Ilim ; but woe unto that man by whem the Son of Man is betrayed ! It had been gccA for that man if he had not been born. Then Judas, -which betrayed Ilim, answered .and said, Master, is it I? He said, unto him, thou hast said." -Matt. 2&:24;'25:-.c7- -, :" ; '--- ' - -- Christ had to die, to accomplish that for which- He
came into the world; the redemption of the world. He could not "save others and save Himself," as His enemies
said ot Him. In the Garden of Gethsemane when He knew His hcur had ccrre He said, "What shall I say? Father save me from this hour; but for this cause came I unto this hour." He was the "corn of wheat that had to
tail into the ground and die, or abide alone ;" but which, thrcus-h death, should "brinfr forth much fruit" Jnn 19-

We are not saved by His perfect, spotless life, .but by
ix ouusi.-iuuonary vicarious, sacrificial death in our place and stead. In the plan of God there is "no remission (of sin) without the shedding 0f (innocent) blood," and lie became the willing sacrifice for our sins and "shed His own bleed for our souls." In Heb. 9:12 we read "By His own blood He entered in ojnce unto the Holy Place having obtained eternal redemption for us." In Heb 10-' 10, By the which will (through His will to offer Himself m cur place and stead) we are sanctified (set apart) through the offering of the Body of Jesus Christ once nth iv? !fl6b- 10i15' 15' "For fay one offeS He hath perfected forever them that are sanctified; wherect the Holy Ghost also is a witness to-us." It was all in 17 G?d; In Acts 2:23 we read, "Him being deliv"
rA ' I "germinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken and by wicked hands have crucified and slain; whom God hath raised vup, having loosed the pains of death; because it was net possible that He should be holden of it" and my friend, it was your sins and mine that helped to crucify Him and as our Scripture says, "Wee unto that mn by whom the Son of Man is betrayed I ! It had been good for that man if he had not been born." Judas betrayed Him for thirty pieces of silver. Many, today, are betraying Him for much less. Through indifference to His claim upon our lives, through neglect of the great Salvation that He has purchased fcr us with His own precious blood and life; through our own wilfulness, and self seeking, we are saying, as did that howling mob at Calvary, "Away with Him. Let Him be crucified" thus forgetting what He said in Jno. 12:25, "He that leveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal."fuIn Gij'S sight there are only two classes of people in the world ; the just (those who are save, or born again) the world; the just (those who are saved, or born again) All m this latter class are, in Gcd's sight, betrayers of Christ In Ps. 9:17 we read, '-'The wicked shall be turned into He.l and all the nations that forget God" and as sure you will agree, that rather than go to that awful nlace, where, the worm dieth not and the fire is not quenched" Mar 9:48; where "The smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ewr; and they have no rest day nor night, Rev. 14:11; where "there shall be wailing and gnashing of teet.V Matt. 13 :42, it would truly have been better for tis if we had never been born; but this will be the everlasting portion of all the unsaved, of all the ages. To have, ind to knew Jesus, as your own personal Savior and to let Him be the Lord and Master of your life is the only way to escape this awful fate. "What shall it profit a man, though he gain the whole world and lose his own soul; cr, what shall a man give in exchange-for his soul?" Mark 8:36,37. . (Adv.)
