Probably Admit Delayed War Brides NEW YORK, Dec. 29. (UP) Immigration officials said today they probably would admit 35 German war brides en route to New York by plane despite the expiration of the Alien War Bride Act last midnight. Immigration Commissioner Watson B. Miller said authorities will be "as generous as possible in the spirit of Christmas" toward soldiers' wives on their way to , this country when the law expired. He said each case would be decided "on its merits." Pan American Airlines reported that the German brides would leave Shannon, Eire, for New York today, flying by way of Gander, Nfld. The company said the flight was delayed two days at Shannon by bad weather after its arrival from Frankfort, Ger many, Monday. The wives of six servicemen flew into New York last night aboard an American Overseas Airlines plane shortly under the midnight deadline. Their plane had been delayed three days by bad weather at Prestwick, Scot land. - ' . Immigration authorities said the women were the last of 52,000 servicemen's dependents admitted under the law. BANKERS SEEK 5-DAY WEEK INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 29 (U.R) The Indiana Bankers' Association today drafted a proposal for submission to the 1949 Gen eral Assembly providing for a five day week for Hoosier banks. Don Warrick, association, secretary, said the bill would permit banks to close one week day, in addition to Sunday. He Wants to Thank Them NEW YORK (UP) Harvey Rose has sailed for France to try to retrace his underground route to Casablanca after having escaped from the Germans in World War II. JOE LOUIS FACES ALIENATION SUIT CHICAGO, Dec. 29. (UP) Heavyweight Champion Joe Louis has 30 days in which to file a reply to a $500,000 alienation of affections suit brought by a Negro minister. Attorney Truman Gibson, Jr., filed acceptance of the suit in Superior Court yesterday, and said the action in effect meant that the boxer would accept service in the suit. DAVID ROSE MARRIES AGAIN LAS VEGAS, Nev., Dec. 29. (UP) Composer-Conductor David Rose. was honeymooning today with his third wife, 21-year-old Model Betty Bigelow.
