IN MEMORIAM
In loving memory of our dear son and brother, Howard Ival Massey, who gave his lu'e in ser-1 vice for his country December 15, j 1944.
Do not ask us if we miss him, There is such a vacant place, We can almost hear his footsteps, And see his smiling face. If we had all the world to give, We'd give it, yes and more, To hear his voice and see his smile, And greet him at the door. Ival dear, we feel that you are just away, resting in Jesus and waiting for us some day. Sadly missed by Mother, Brothers and Sisters.
Golden Arrows Lose WIC Till To Brazil 61-11
The Brazil Red Devils were too fast, too hot, and too rough for the Golden Arrows last night, and vhalked up a b'l to 41 Western Indiana Conference victory. The visiting Imps won the ball game in the second quarter when they turned a closj game into a walkaway. The Arrows couldn't handle the shooting of Rentchler, who chalked up 9 field goals, 8 of them in the first half. Nor could they keep the Devils, whose game closely resembled football at times, from knocking the smaller Arrows out of the way
under the basket for easy tipin shots. The Arrows stayed with the Imps for most of the first quarter. MjCammon's basket, a foul shot by Banks, and another by Little Georgia Wolfe, gave the Arrows a 4 to 4 tie with about 6 minutes gone. Then, Rentchler hit two quick ones from the floor, and Mercer , added another to put the Devils ahead by 13 to 6 at the end of the first
quarter. The Satans added 14 points in the second quarter be- I fore the Arrows could score a- , gain, and went on to lead 36 to 14 at half time. When the second half opened, j the Arrows started connecting 1 with the basket a little better, I and managed to s'jore as many j points as did the Imps. The vis- I itors led by 46 to 24 at the start of the last period. In the last !
period the Arrows cut two points off that lead, but still couldn't make enough shots stay
in the basket to get back into !
the ball g?me. . . Arrows Cold H The Arrows," B3 game and 'as fight' ng as they come, shot 78 times against Brazil. Only 14, of thern went through the hoop, for
a cold 18 per cent. The Devils, on the other hand, hit 30 per cent of their shots to chalk up their 24 baskets. Jerry McCammon, who has been playing good ball so far this year, led the Arrpw scoring with 12 points. Wolfe followed close' behind with 10, and Bob Banks tallied 9. Skip Oldham added 6 points to the Arrow total. Rentchler with 18 points and McClelland with 16 points led the Brazil scoring. The Sullivan reserves ran a-r way from the Brazil reserves to win the preliminary game, 34 to 26. Starting fast and playing that way all through the game, the locals led 15 to 9 at the half, and at one time in the last period were ahead by 32 to 16. Don McClure hit for 13 points to lead Sullivan. Morgan got 9, Carter hit for 4, Grayam hit for 6, and Brown addei' two more. LANGUISHING in an Army lockup In Berlin, Edward J. Lada, 28, is probably wondering if he ever will get to marry Ursula Schmidt, The former paratrooper' went to Germany from Newark, N. J., walked through the blockade into the Soviet zone. Everything was all right till he asked the U. S. consulate for a military entry permit so he could take steps to marry Ursula. Now he's jailed for illegal entry. (International)
