Michigan Gets FourOnlJ.P. ig Nine Team By Ed Sainsbury United Press Sports Writer CHICAGO, Nov. 23. (UP) Michigan's Big Nine football champions placed four men on the all Big Nine team to dominate the annual all star squad selected today by the coaches for the United Press. The Wolverine stars who made the team, three seniors and a-junior, were: End Dick Rifenbure. Tackle Alvin 1 Wistert, ( 1 uard Dominic Tomasi, land Quarterback Pete Elliott. Both of the runner-up clubs, second place Northwestern and third place Minnesota, each placed two men on the team. The Wildcats had Center Alex Sarkisian and Fullback Art Murakowski, while the Gophers End Harry Grant and Guard Leo Nomellini made the team. The other three positions were divided with Iowa's Tackle Bill Kay completing the line and Purdue's Harry Szulborski and Indiana's George Taliaferro com- j pleting the backfield. The first eleven included five seniors and six juniors. Both Rifenburg and Grant rate as expert pass snatchers and good on defense. Wistert and Kay, two hard charging heavyweights, have plenty of speed and blocking ability and both play a smart driving game on defense. Nomellini, heaviest man on the lineup at 250 pounds, was the mainstay of Minnesota's terrific line all season, while Tomasi, captain of the champion Wolverines, was a key man in the splendid defense group molded by .new coach Bennie Oosterban. Sarkisian, the center, was a 60 minute ball player for Northwestern in nearly every game and as captain of the Rose Bowl bound Wildcats, BENEFIT BY THIS GOOD NEWS COMBINATION YOUR HOME TOWN PAPER give you complete, dependable locol news.
