SOCIETY MISSIONARY, MEETING Krs. Goldie Ray was hostess for the Zelma Harbaugh Missionary Society Friday night at her home on South Main Street, The. business session was in charge of the president, Mrs. Ruth Barcus, and two Christmas projects were detided upon. The devotions and lesson on Puerto Rico were given in an interesting manner by Mrs. Lucille Ford. Mrs. Adah Thixtun read a letter of thanks from mission workers in Pakistan, India, expressing great appreciation for rifts which had - been received from Mrs. Thixtun's Sunday School class, the Bereans. Following the missionary benediction, refreshments were served by the hostess and her assistants and a social hour was enjoyed. BPW's HEAR MARGARET COOPER, LINTON BPW; EN) TOY DINNER MEETING More than half a hundred members cf the Sullivan Business and Professional Women's Club and their guests last evening heard Mrs. Margaret Cooper, former editor of the state federation's publication "Hoosier Business Women" and member of the Linton EPW-organization, expound on the qualifications of "the good B. & P. W, member, her services to her club, community, state and r.ation." Mrs. Cooper spoke to the local group at a 6:30 dinner meeting held in the dining room of." the Davis Hotel with President Edith Harmon presiding. The evening's program was in charge of Membership Committee Chairman Elizabeth Scott and her assistants, Pauline Mahan and Marguerite Ranking. Also on the evening's program was Mrs. Frank Medsker, Blue Cross representative from the Indianapolis office, who enumerated the merits of the Blue Cross club insurance plan which is offered the local membership. . Preceding the dinner, patriotic devotions were offered in keeping with the Armistice memorial day. A newly organized male chorus under the direction of Mrs. Elizabeth Springer sang several numbers. The group is composed of D. H. Brown, John Harbaugh; Jack MpCoskcy, Harold Campbell, Jack Rader, A. G. McGuire and John Wayne Biddle and their excellent renditions were the talk of the BPW's today. Initiation services were conducted for Brethel Flynn and Gertrude Ruddell. Gertrude Risher .and Esther Shaw of Linton were also guests of the group for the evening.
FORMAL DINNER HELD The Xi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held its fall formal dinner at the Sullivan Hotel, 1-uesday eve-j ning, November 2. The long din-1 ing table was centered with a centerpiece of yellow and white mums with candles on either side. The program of the evening was as follows: the Opening Ritual in unison; welcome to new pledge, Dorothy Apple, by Presi-. dent Ramona Everly; vocal solo, "Roses of Picardy" by Mrs. Fallis Ward of Linton; reading, "Mrs. Doleful's Visit" by the sponsor, Byrdie Reed; piano solos. "Twelfth Street Rag" and "The World Is Waiting for the Sunrise," by Mlrs. Fallis Ward; and the Closing Ritual in unison. Following the dinner, the Pledge Ritual was held for Dorothy. Apple. The Ritual of Jewels was given for Elizabeth Hayes. The Exemplar Degree was con.fsrred upon Doris Dodd,. Mary Reed Able and Thelma Able. Those present were: Mary Ellen Milam.
