YOUR REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR SHERIFF OF . SULLIVAN COUNTY A VETERAN WHO STANDS WITH THE VETERAN3 raid Pel. Adv.
Since it is impossible for me to contact each of you personally, I am using this method to solir't your support in my race for Commissioner for the Second District: You elect your Commissioners to spend your money. You want a man who will spend it wr'sely. You expect certain services from your -tax money. Therefore, you want a Commissioner who will refuse to spend your money on needless demands cf special pressure groups but who will consider the interest of all concerned. With these .'deals in mind, I promise to serve you faithfully, if elected.

I see by the advertisement in the Sullivan Daily Times of October 26th, of Mr. Norval K. Harris, that the work of the Sullivan County . Department of Public Welfare is severely criticized by him. It has been the policy of the Weli'are Board to keep the costs of Welfare as low as is possible and still carry out the requirements of the State Welfare Board and properly care for the recipients of welfare, and we have tr'ed to get the $5.00 increase voted by the 80th Congress to the recipient as quickly as possible. All salaries paid for Director and visitors, and the number of visitors are the lowest allowed by the State Welfare Department. It has always been necessary to employ an attorney, and the salary of Mr. Wilson was approved and his services Have been satisfactory. I have been in welfare work more than forty years in Sullivan County and this is the first time I have been accused of wasting the taxpayers' money. Will A. Thompson President of the Welfare Board.
