To the Tax-Payers of Sullivan County: The monthly expense of the Public Welfare Department of Sullivan County includes the following: (Salary) Mileage Mayme A. Reiser, Director $225.00 $10 Iva Giles, Investigator . : . ... ...... 150.00 . $25 Pauline Walters, Invest'gator 150.00 $25 Mildred Harrison, Investigator 150.00 $25 Norma Kelley, Investigator 150.00 $25 Mary McCrocklin, Investigator 150.00 $25 Mary Simmers, Clerk 155.00 Gelena Shappeck, Clerk 135.00 AMORINE WILSON, Legal Services 50.00 Office Expense ............ t 75.00 Total $1390.00 $135.00 Grand Total '. . $1525.00 In other words, it is costing you approximately $18,000 per year to operate the Welfare Department. I believe this is at least $8,000 too much and that the Department can be operated on not more than $10,000 per year (probably less) in an efficient manner. I am in favor of less expenditures for investigators and more liberal allowances to the aged. Watch the Daily Times for more figures that will interest you.
