Subsequently John was a truck driver, ice man and stage hand. He is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds, and was named All American football player at the University of Southern California in 1929. His chance in the films came when Raoul Walsh saw him carrying a table onto a movie set, and that was nine years ago. John really hit his stride in the picture Back to Bataan. He's married to a Mexican girl Esperanza Bour. Hervey Allen is best known to most readers for his best selling novel of 20 years or so ago, Anthofiy Adverse.
