Donovan United Press Staff Correspondent President Truman's bandwagon was expected to get a push today from the CIO. ' 1 The union's 51-member executive board, meeting in Washington, was set to give its official stamp of approval to the candidacy of Mr. Truman and his running mate, Sen. Alben W. Barkley of Kentucky. The vote, however, will not be Democratic ticket of the active support of about 30 CIO unions with a combined membership of about 5,500,000. ; The CIO's expected endorsement of the President would come within a week after some 40 AFL unions decided to ignore the AFL's traditional "hands off politics" policy and to come out in favor of the Truman-Barkley ticet. j i Mr. Truman opens his campaign next Monday, Labor Day, at Detroit. He is confident of election and one of his' tcp advisers, former Senate Secretary Leslie Biffle, said there is good grounds for his optimism. III. GOP Worse Than Mich. GOP, Demos Decide CHICAGO, Aug. 31 (UP) Midwestern Democrats' meeting here said today :hey had decided that the Republican anministration in Illir.'.is is worse than the Republican administration in Michigan. Spokesmen at a conference of Democratic candidates said ' the vote was taken afte;- guests and delegates heard Gubernatorial Candinate Adlai Stevenson of Illinois and Burnett J. "has the most corrupt Republican administration." Candidates for Senator or governor frcm eight states were represented. At its opening yesterday, the meeting was hailed as including 11 states. However, three gubernatorial candidates Henry Schricker of Indiana, Forrest Smith of Missouri, and Terry Carpenter cf Nebraska failed to put in an appearance. Democratic Senatorial candidates present urged that the United States seek a "real settlement" with Russia, but without appeasement. ' They supplemented the fore-. ign policy statement with their j views on housing, agriculture and inflation control. They said they favored protecting veterans who have bought homes at inflation values "from the loss due to a likely fall in real estate prines."

HERE is a pleasant little game that will give you a message every day. It is a numerical puzzle designed to spell out your fortune. Count the letters in your first name. If the number of letters is 6 or more, subtract 4. If the number is less than 6, add 3. The result is your key number. Start at the upper left-hand corner of the rec- , tangle and check every one of your key numbers, left to right. Then read the message the letters under the checked figures give you.
