The Country Girls club will meet September 1st at 11:30 o'clock for a covered dish dinner at the park instead of August 25th as planned. Each one bring -their favorite disli and table service. Merchants Lose To Solvents In 12 Innings The Merchants face an acid test to repeat their last years champ- ' ionship drive now as the new 'league champions, the Commercial Solvents, took a 12-inning 5-4 ; decision in the first of a two-out-1 of -three series yesterday before '. the largest turnout of fans this The Merchants scored a single run in the first and second inning to grab a two-run lead. The Norway crew scored a singK in the fourth and a pair in the sixth to take the lead of 3-2 In the seventh the Merchants tied it 3-all and the game stood at that score after nine innings of play. In the 11th both teams put across a marker, making the score stand 4-all. The visitors scored one in the 12th while the Merchants went out in order. The locals outhit the visitors 11-8 but were guilty of five errors, while the winners made three bobbles. Duke Taylor went the distance for the Solvents while! the locals used three hurlers. The Merchants lost the services of their old reliable Billy Thewlis when he was spiked in making a ( putout in the fourth. He was taken to the hospital where the! nail was removed from his toe. BICHOP-BECK VOWS READ Miss Dorothy Bishop, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Bishop, of Carlisle, R. 2, became the bride of Leonard Beck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Beck, of Linton, R. 2, in a double ring ceremony performed Sunday, August 22nd at the Methodist Church in Pleasantville. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Norman Bishop. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Bishop were their attendants. Bridal music, "Always", "I Have But One Heart", and "Oh Promise Me" was played by Miss Betty Moody and Mrs. Rex Harbin. The bride 'wore a street length dress of cream color crepe with white accessories. She carried a bouquet of white roses. Immediately following the wedding a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. A three-tiered wedding cake centered the bride's table. Mr. and Mrs. Beck will make their home in Lynnville, Ind.
