The Marthy Ellen club met at

the home of Mrs. Lee Grass Sr. Wednesday, July 28th with . a covered dish dinner. There were nine present and the morning was spent in working on quilts. The next meeting will be held at the Carlisle park. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Grass Sr. spent Saturday afternoon in Sullivan. -

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mills and children of Detroit, Michigan are here the guests of Mr. Mills' mother, Mrs. Dessie Michael. Mr. and Mrs. William B. Aikin of Orlando, Florida, ar-. rived here last Wednesday for a visit with Mrs. Aikin's brother, Ed W. Curtner. The Woman's Society of Christian Service met Wednesday .afternoon at the home of Mrs. Lillie Woodward. Meeting was opened by singing "Oh for a Thousand Tongues to Si.ngg," Prayer by Dercle Orr. Minutes of the June meeting were read.

Seventy-one Sunshine calls were reported. Repose given on an all-day meeting held at the

APPLY FOR SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS i Applications for lump sum Social Security benefits based on the death of servicemen or civilians who died .outside the United States between December 6, 1941 and August 10, 1946 should be made by August 9, ' 1948. According to James E. Snider, manager of the Terre Haute field office, claims filed for such cases after that date cannot be paid. Survivors of such insured individuals are urged to act promptly and at least inquire as to possible benefits. Inquiries should be made at the field office, Rcr.m 306, Post Office Building, Terre Haute since no regular out of town visits are scheduled before August 9.
